ðš 1/10 â CRITICAL PLAYSTATION SECURITY ALERT
A potentially ongoing PSN Family Management exploit may be putting playersâ accounts, personal information, and account ownership at risk
Unauthorized child accounts can reportedly be added without the Family Managerâs consentâand victims may be unable to remove them or leave families they never created
@PlayStation MUST act NOW
ð§µð
2/10 â PERSONAL DATA AT RISK
Reports concerning the family member exploit indicate that an accountâs private information could be accessed using only its username, without even adding that account to a family
The exposed information reportedly included:
⢠Email address
⢠Full name
⢠Date of birth
⢠Phone number
⢠Physical address
⢠Account creation date
⢠Email verification date
If confirmed, this represents a serious privacy and security failure that demands a full investigation
3/10 â TWO MONTHS OF POTENTIAL EXPOSURE?
The reported information-access issue allegedly remained exploitable for approximately TWO MONTHS without being detected
That raises urgent questions:
How many accounts were exposed? How many users were affected? Was this information abused to facilitate account takeovers?
Sony must establish the full scope of the incident, investigate potential misuse, and clearly inform affected users
Silence and uncertainty are not acceptable responses to a potential security crisis
4/10 â THE FAMILY EXPLOIT MAY STILL BE ACTIVE
A critical issue reportedly remains unresolved
Unauthorized child accounts allegedly added to victimsâ families are still present, and Family Managers cannot remove them through the available controls
Even worse, affected users may be unable to leave a family they never created themselves
If the original vulnerability has been patched, why are victims still unable to regain control?
A fix that blocks new attacks is NOT enough if existing victims remain exposed
5/10 â PASSWORD CHANGES MAY NOT BE ENOUGH
Affected users need to understand that conventional security measures may not resolve a compromise involving unauthorized family accounts or persistent access
Changing your password does not necessarily remove attacker-controlled access
Enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) does not necessarily eliminate every attack path
Adding a passkey does not automatically revoke existing unauthorized access
Changing your email address may not be sufficient if an attacker can continue monitoring or exploiting the account through unauthorized family-linked accounts
These protections remain important, but they cannot substitute for fixing the underlying vulnerability and removing unauthorized access
6/10 â A POTENTIAL ACCOUNT-TAKEOVER CHAIN
The most alarming reported scenario is that victims may continue attempting to secure their accounts while unauthorized child accounts remain linked to their families
If those accounts provide a way to monitor information or facilitate further unauthorized changes, victims could remain vulnerable despite changing their credentials
Reports describe a potential end result in which an attacker changes the victimâs email address and takes control of the PSN account
Sony must urgently verify this attack chain, identify any remaining access paths, and prevent further account takeovers
7/10 â WHY CANâT FAMILY MANAGERS PROTECT THEIR OWN FAMILIES?
@PlayStation@AskPlayStation
Family Managers must have the authority to remove suspicious or fraudulently added child accounts
They must also have a secure way to leave a family they did not create or authorize joining
Users should not be trapped in compromised family groups without the ability to remove unauthorized members or restore control
Sony must introduce the necessary administrative controls immediatelyânot leave victims waiting for support while their accounts remain at risk
8/10 â EVERY DELAY INCREASES THE POTENTIAL DAMAGE
If these reports are accurate and the vulnerability remains exploitable, every additional day could expose more players to privacy violations and account theft
Sony must urgently:
⢠Verify whether the exploit remains active
⢠Remove unauthorized child accounts linked to affected families
⢠Restore control to legitimate account owners
⢠Close every related attack path
⢠Investigate the reported exposure of personal information
⢠Notify affected users and provide clear recovery instructions
Preventing future attacks is only half the job Existing victims must be protected, too
9/10 â SONY MUST ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS
@Sony@SonyGroupGlobal
Is the Family Management vulnerability fully resolved?
Can unauthorized child accounts still be added or abused?
Can Family Managers remove fraudulent child accounts and leave unauthorized families?
Was personal information exposed through username-based access?
Have affected accounts been identified and secured?
What immediate measures are available to victims?
Players deserve clear answers, verifiable remediation, and an effective way to secure their accounts
10/10 â URGENT ACTION REQUIRED ðš
PlayStation users should never be left powerless to protect their own accounts
A security fix is incomplete if unauthorized access persists, victims cannot remove fraudulent family members, and account owners lack the controls needed to restore security
Sony must investigate immediately, close any remaining vulnerabilities, remove unauthorized access, and provide affected players with the tools to secure their accounts
Every delay risks further harm if these attack paths remain exploitable

@PlayStation@AskPlayStation
@Sony@SonyGroupGlobal

Sony is investigating the PSN security issue where hackers are adding unauthorized âchildâ accounts to usersâ PlayStation Family groups.
Affected users claim these accounts can be added without their password or two-factor authentication being triggered.
Once inside the family group, the unauthorized account may be able to access certain account information and, depending on parental-control settings, make PlayStation Store purchases using a linked payment method.
Thereâs another problem: child accounts normally canât simply be removed from a PlayStation family, making the situation much harder to fix once an attacker gets in.
Check your Family Management settings for accounts you donât recognize.
ðš CRITICAL PLAYSTATION SECURITY ALERT: An Ongoing Family Management Exploit May Put Player Accounts at Risk!
Unauthorized child accounts can reportedly be added to a PlayStation family without the Family Managerâs consentâand the manager may be unable to remove them or leave the family!
Is your PSN account at risk? Sony must investigate immediately! @PlayStation
--------
**1/7 â URGENT: PlayStation Family Security Issue**
An account-security vulnerability reportedly allowed unauthorized child accounts to be added to PlayStation Network (PSN) family groups without the family managerâs consent.
Although the vulnerability was reported and marked resolved, a critical problem remains.
**2/7 â Unauthorized Accounts Remain**
Unauthorized child accounts added through the reported vulnerability may still be linked to affected usersâ families.
The immediate concern is that family managers cannot independently remove these unwanted child accounts through the available family management controls.
This must be addressed urgently.
**3/7 â Family Managers Need Control**
Why canât the family manager remove an unauthorized child account from their own family?
PlayStation must update its Family Management system to provide a secure, direct way for family managers to remove suspicious or fraudulently added child accounts.
Account owners should not be left powerless to manage unauthorized entries in their own families.
**4/7 â A Serious Account-Security Concern**
The inability to remove unauthorized child accounts leaves affected users without a straightforward way to clean up their family groups.
Depending on the underlying vulnerability and any remaining access, this could create ongoing privacy and account-security risks, potentially including exposure of personal information or account takeover.
Sony must investigate each remaining risk and provide an effective remediation.
**5/7 â Potential Exposure of Personal Information**
The reported vulnerability was associated with the potential exposure of PSN usersâ private email addresses and full names.
The original report also raised concerns about unauthorized purchases and transaction histories potentially being abused in account-takeover scenarios.
Sony must clarify what data and accounts were affected, whether any risk remains, and what protective measures are available to users.
**6/7 â Immediate Action Required**
Sony and PlayStation must urgently:
⢠Add a secure option for family managers to remove unauthorized child accounts.
⢠Review and remove fraudulent child accounts linked through the reported vulnerability.
⢠Notify affected users and provide clear remediation instructions.
⢠Verify that the original vulnerability is fixed and that related attack paths are closed.
Security fixes must protect existing victims, not just prevent future exploitation.
**7/7 â Sony, Please Address This Urgently**
PlayStation users must be able to secure and manage their own family groups.
Leaving unauthorized child accounts in place without giving family managers a way to remove them is unacceptable.
Sony must update the Family Management system immediately and provide affected users with a reliable way to restore control over their accounts.
