Alison Varco (Program Officer, @gatesfoundation) on the narratives that confront caregivers: Women are often expected to adhere to two archetypes: The “Ideal Worker” & the “Perfect Mother,” she notes. “Being both is categorically impossible, but we still try.”

It is essential to challenge these narratives by showcasing the linkages b/w caregiving & leadership skills—research shows that caregiving is often associated w/ key workpace skills like problem-solving, resilience, prioritization & negotiation.
