GENESIS OF CRITICAL THINKING: I am reading CHAYANOV’s The Theory of Peasant Economy for the Peasants and Agrarian Studies Module. Chayanov was a Russian scholar and a revolutionary. He got assassinated for his radical activism, much of it peasant-based. I was struck by his epistemic iconoclasm: he rejects models and theories deriving from the capitalist mode of production and THINKING, to evolve a new theory on the peasantry as a producing class. You can see from the excerpted pages how Chayanov breaks with the conventional, to found a new scholarship. I raise this because of a glaring weakness I always see in our National Mind, as exhibited in countless debates we have here. We cut our feet to fit western shoes; we never seek to develop shoes for our own feet. I hope these two pages encourage us to think outside pre-set moulds, as does Chayanov and many other Russian Scholars; and French scholars too!!!!!!
