Scientists reveal the Sneeb

[sneeb @PainedPinata]

I get the sentiment, but this comes off as so needlessly hostile for something the guy said was being made primarily for themselves.
They are an artist and a gamedev, they aren’t really larping knowing what they are doing here…

This is vibe-coded.
vibe-coded software is dangerous for multiple reasons, memory leaks, risks to your files/OS, or massive security problems that can't be fixed bc they have no idea what the code actually is.

Try @umoupen instead.

Spent nearly all day redoing the MD Technicians animation suite, for weapon handling (Shotgun) and directional locomotion, all done by hand.

Still needs some smoothing out, but nearly ready to move to abilities next!

Now everyone wants to have their super epic liminal source nostalgia satisifed by S&Box, because they can’t seem to understand GMOD was a one time thing that just can’t officially happen this day and age.

It will not be the same, it is your fault if it is not what you expected.

[sneeb @PainedPinata]

I honestly truly cannot fathom the fucking vitriol people had against the sausage citizens, they were a FINE design I feel like i am going crazy with how much people hated their guts

They should have never called it a spiritual successor to GMOD.

Garry Newman shared his opinion on the launch of S&Box and their plans to improve it under the @Eridiium's video.

"The launch was shit. The free weekend was shit. We wanted to float under the radar on launch and build up, but we didn't. It was crap, it has burnt bridges and made people angry, it's given a negative view of s&box, it's turned the gmod community against it. We can't get away from that, we fucked it. We weren't ready and we fucked it. We know that, you know that, we fucked it".

Garry still likes the sausage-like models, but they are giving up on them and moving towards realistic human characters.

They are also changing Playfund to help people find high quality games easier and stop incentivizing low-effort content by greenlighting or blacklisting projects from the monetization program, while switching maps and games to a Steam Workshop style subscribe/install model.

"There being too much content is a problem. It's no good having 20 good games on the platform when they're swimming in the sea of 500 tech demos and clickers. We're going to address that, we already have plans".

Garry thinks the situation is deflating, demoralizing, and embarrassing. With AI, this is either the worst or the best time in history to launch a UGC platform.

For context: Sid (@Eridiium) is one of the few content creators actively covering S&Box and communicating with the community. In the video, he criticized many aspects of the platform and suggested himself for the role of community manager.

s&box is genuinely a really impressive dev environment for source 2 but in typical valve gamer fashion they cant understand evoltution and ripped garry to shreds because he and facepunch didnt make garrys mod 2

it's a melancholic lonely world to explore but has a lot of wondrous sights

[sneeb @PainedPinata]

@MGecko117 Yeah… it really does feel like a missed opportunity. The theme of the setting where scavengers roam amid constant battles is cool as hell but I don’t know, it doesn’t work very well as a game. Most of the interesting stuff you end up actively having to run away from instead.

[sneeb @PainedPinata]

how did she get out of that straitjacket

[sneeb @PainedPinata]

@LoomingColumn and while you’re at it, make her skin green too
