Another video shown to the jury at the Filton 6 trial demonstrating the police and Elbit security guard’s extreme violence and brutality. In this one Ellie Kamio is tasered by police.
The purpose of this article by #IlanPappe is to stress the pattern of continuity in #Palestine’s modern history, beginning with the late Ottoman Period, as a geo-political entity with its own cultural cohesiveness and distinctiveness.
The following advertisement was not produced by boycott movements, but rather by the Israeli occupation Manufacturers Association to promote Israeli products — which, according to the ad, are turned into “Arrow missiles, Merkava tanks, and drones.” I imagine that even if a boycott movement wanted to create an ad to support its cause, it couldn’t have done a better job than this… Remember this ad well when you shop and make your purchases.
The health ministry has released a new 1,000-page document with the names, ages and other info, of 52,959 Palestinians killed in Gaza.
For the first 100 pages (over 5,000 names), the age is listed at 5 years or younger.
The first 18 pages the age is listed as 0 (under 1 year)
In this thread, @owenjonesjourno calls out the “performative radicalism” of leftists “imposing impossible purity tests” that “make the coalition against genocide minuscule.” His position is that we all have “a moral imperative to build the biggest possible coalition in the West to stop a genocide” in Gaza. I agree. But I question whether Owen practices what he preaches. Last fall, we were both invited to speak at a Palestine charity alongside other speakers. I never thought of declining, even though I disagree with Owen’s stances on the proxy wars in Syria and Ukraine, as well as on the "anti-Semitism" scam that sabotaged Jeremy Corbyn.
Owen, by contrast, pulled out of the event and publicly blamed my presence. He made no effort to reach out to me and address whatever critiques or concerns he may have. Nor do I think he considered the potential negative impact on a Palestine charity event by making a performative display out of refusing to appear with another speaker.
I didn't respond to him at the time because I actually believe in the moral imperative he now professes to uphold. And it's his right to drop out of an event if he wants to. But if you're going to disparage others who are in solidarity with Palestine — and broadcast your refusal to appear with them — because you disagree on issues like Syria, don't turn around and now claim to oppose "purity tests" and "performative radicalism."
Antisemitism commissioner @itsuwe cowardly goes to the media to say I have an “evil antisemitic spirit” because I said Palestine must be decolonised . 460 something days into the genocide , the entirety of Gaza destroyed, people are starving and in tents, and this is the horrific discourse. All because I’m moderating a panel with a total speaking time of like 10 minutes.
Let me be so clear that even simple minded men like Uwe can understand , there is absolutely nothing you can say about me that will get me to stop fighting for my family and my people.
I am approaching the one year anniversary of the brutal murder of my beloved Sama (14) by the Israeli murder machine and there is nothing more horrific than anticipating such a tragic date. If we’re talking about evil spirits , there is nothing more evil than aiding and abetting a brutalisation of an entire people. I don’t know who the hell you think you’re bullying, but I’m not an easy target and won’t shut up because you’re on a pathetic power trip whenever you go after Palestinians.
Iran and the resistance in Lebanon have done and sacrificed more for the just and lawful armed Palestinian resistance against American-armed genocidal Zionist savagery and evil than anyone else. Rashid Khalidi does not speak for me in spitting on and diminishing these sacrifices.
Congratulations to BDS Ireland.
After a year of campaigning across Ireland, every Lidl in Ireland is now free of products made in Israel! Activists from every corner of the land regularly visited the retailer's outlets, distributing leaflets and informing people.
Dear @nedalalamari, no decent person will rejoice at the genocidal Zionist enemy’s invasion of Syria, the way you rejoiced at and incited the enemy’s barbarism against the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance. You are learning what many warned: “Israel” is enemy to all and friend to none
The fact that Assad was able to maintain a fleet of luxury cars underscores that he was corrupt and selfish. They also underscore that crippling US sanctions never hurt him or his cronies. They hurt the Syrian people, as US officials openly -- and proudly -- acknowledged.
More than one year after the US imposed sanctions under the "Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act", the UN reported an "800 per cent rise in food prices."
US officials saw this as a success.
Dana Stroul, a senior Pentagon official under Biden, explained in 2019 that the government-controlled areas where most Syrians live "is rubble." And through US control of "the international financial institutions and our cooperation with the Europeans", the US can "hold a line on preventing reconstruction aid and technical expertise from going back into Syria."
James Jeffrey, the former US envoy to Syria, later wrote that the US has “crushed the country’s economy through sanctions.” The US and allies helped “choke the regime’s economy through sanctions, holds on reconstruction assistance, and maritime interdiction.”
Andrew Tabler, another former senior US official for Syria policy, likewise boasted that US sanctions destroyed Syria’s currency, leading to “corresponding cuts in regime subsidies that have exacerbated fuel and food shortages for everyday Syrians.”
Ahead of Christmas in 2022, US official Joel Rayburn celebrated his success: Syria's "economy and state are collapsing", he declared, with "no fuel/electricity", "basic needs unaffordable," schools shuttered, and "people desperate."
People who opposed this economic warfare on ordinary civilians were called "Assadists." I think that supporters of this policy were, whether they knew it or not, sadists.
Al-Qaeda/ISIS man didn’t “reinvent himself.” He had the whole propaganda and intelligence apparatus of the “West,” including the BBC, doing it for him.
Whether you feel elation, despair or indifference at unfolding events, this remains true:
All the states that provided billions in weapons and training to oust the Syrian government, while simultaneously providing billions in weapons, sending their warships, and supplying oil to protect and enable "Israel" as it commits genocide in Gaza, did so solely for the sake of "Israel." Whatever happens next, what is good for "Israel" and Zionism, and not the rights, self-determination and interests of the Syrian people, will remain these states' sole guiding principle.
