Central govt employees, RBI staff & many private sector workers enjoy a 5-day workweek, yet bankers only get alternate Saturdays off. Despite 24x7 digital banking, this outdated practice continues.
In Dec 2023, IBA & bank unions agreed to a 5-day workweek, but govt approval is still pending. @nsitharaman@PMOIndia@DFS_India@RBI@FinMinIndia@NITIAayog
This change would reduce burnout, boost productivity & align banking with modern work standards.

🚨 STRIKE OR SELL-OUT? 🚨
For those unaware, a trade union in India must give 15 days’ notice before a strike. Once the notice is given, the Chief Labour Commissioner (CLC) intervenes and calls both the union and management for talks.
🔹 If demands are accepted → Strike deferred
🔹 If talks fail → Strike continues
So, if #UFBU’s strike gets deferred, it means they have reached a compromise on some demands. But if #5DaysBanking is NOT announced, it means they didn’t even bring it up! ❌
Did the unions really fight for your work-life balance or just used the strike as a bargaining tool for their own benefit? Demand transparency!
