It is INADEQUATE that companies that have a data breach need only 1) send a letter to affected individuals, 2) set up an optional "free monitoring" for 12 months.
In the Letter they say "We want you to feel confident that your data is secure." MY DATA IS NOT SECURE!!

I've gotten about 20 of these letters over the years. Yes that means these companies together should have given me $20K ...IT HAS TO HURT, or they'll not properly secure our data.
Some of us will indeed be the victims of identity fraud, which will cost more than $20K!

@TriZetto EVERY individual whose data is leaked should receive $1000 from every company that leaks their data.
And 12 months is highly insufficient as most identity fraud happens waaaayyy later!!
A letter + (optional) Monitoring is NOT a penalty ...it's mere marketing!!!

A cyberattack on healthcare tech provider TriZetto Provider Solutions, owned by Cognizant, has now been confirmed to impact more than 700,000 individuals, far higher than first believed. The breach exposed highly sensitive personal data including names, birth dates, addresses, Social Security numbers, and health insurance details.
While medical records and treatment data were reportedly not accessed, security experts warn the stolen information still poses serious risks for identity theft, fraud, and targeted scams. The incident has already led to legal action and raised concerns over how long the intrusion went undetected.

The Church attack in Grand Blanc was an unhinged "Bubba" who may have been upset over how the Bishopric handled some issue.
Church policy allows law enforcement to carry at meetings. The 2nd counselor was carrying and put down the perpetrator.

Chilling stuff.
On the ground reports indicate the shooter at an LDS stake center in Grand Blanc, Michigan demanded statements of belief from people before opening fire.
