@DavidSweanor references declining trust in authorities globally and asks rhetorically: #GFN26
"Do people say, 'the health authorities are wrong on vaping, but I trust them on everything else'?"
"When people who successfully stop smoking through vaping hear official messaging that focuses almost exclusively on risks, concerns, and potential harms while largely ignoring the benefits they experience firsthand, a conflict begins to emerge. Consumers naturally compare what they are being told with what they observe in their own lives. When those two things do not align, many begin to question the messenger rather than their own experience."

@FarsalinosK closes out #GFN26:
"Let us be honest: This is no longer a scientific debate. Evidence is being manipulated to serve a puritanical ideology"
They knew it would happen!!
It seems the impact analysis was actually correct, yet they did nothing!

@papaioannoy@DavidSweanor and @papaioannoy talk about how vape shop owners cannot legally share scientific facts about relative risk without risking 18 months in federal prison and/or a $500,000 fine
@NannyFreeState is on fire.
"Bloomberg seemingly cannot fathom the simple fact that the problems he describes are the result of the very prohibitionist policies he has spent years funding and promoting around the world."

"From the opening paragraphs, Chapman frames vaping advocates as irrational zealots who “eat, live, breathe and rejoice in their nicotine addiction” and who spend their time “wailing into the night” about vaping restrictions. This framing may entertain those who already agree with him, but it does little to engage with the actual arguments being made by researchers, clinicians, consumers and harm reduction advocates."

"Millions of former smokers have personal experience with vaping. They know what happens when they switch from cigarettes. They know whether they reduce their smoking, whether they quit entirely, and whether their quality of life improves. They know how much money they save, how their breathing changes, and whether vaping succeeds where repeated attempts to quit nicotine altogether fail. These experiences are not abstract theories or statistical models. They are lived realities."

Marina Murphy from @HayppGroup presents data on what UK participants did after the ban on disposable e-cigarettes.
8% stopped vaping, but 41% of those 8% went back to smoking.
Remember that only a small increase in smoking can undermine any health gains. #GFN26
Rohan Pike talks at #GFN26 about the disastrous results of ecig prohibition in Australia:
- weekly drive by shootings
- hundreds of firebombings
- 20 illicit stores in 1km in his hometown
- criminal networks are now expanding to alcohol sales
@WaterfordJack prohibition never works .. allow the reopening of regulated #vaping shops for adult nicotine consumers .. continue the switch from deadly tobacco that was occurring organically before the hammer came down on safer nicotine vaping in 2024, turbo-charging the illegal tobacco trade
"Eight Bloomberg anti-nicotine groups have essentially taken over the WHO tobacco control unit via its backroom operations of the WHO’s MPOWER programme. The WHO is unable to speak out as, practically bankrupt, they would have no tobacco control programme without Mike Bloomberg."
@X@Support@premium It has been 7⃣ days since @Algore09Algor acct was mistakenly suspended. He has never, in the 7 years I've known him, broken any rules. This is an error, please investigate. #Reinstate#FixIt His posts are thoughtful, polite & informative. Plz and TY.
@AvidCommentator My 86yo mum has to buy black market vapes so she doesn't smoke. Smokes are cheaper but she's had lung cancer so needs the safer nicotine products. Fricken do gooder madness!
