BREAKING: SQUIRM! Rep. Emilia Sykes HUMILIATES Trump's Energy Secretary by confronting him in a hearing about Donald's viral new "I love the inflation" quote โ catching him totally off guard.
This was absolutely brutal...
"Since you want to talk about people unqualified and meritocracies, let's talk about President Trump," said Sykes. "Do you feel like your positions and policy statements are in line with President Trump?"
"Yes, I hope so," replied Secretary Chris Wright.
"Do you love inflation?" asked Sykes.
"I love ending Iran's ability to have a nuclear weapon. I think that's existential," said Wright, evading the question.
As we well know by now, Iran was not pursuing nuclear weapons. Our intelligence agencies concluded as much. Trump launched this war because Benjamin Netanyahu tricked him into believing that he could obtain a quick, splashy victory. And Israel wanted this war because they want to destroy Iran to aid in their regional expansion.
"Thank you, that was not my question," said Sykes. "Do you love inflation? Yes or no?"
"I love ending Iran'sโ" Wright tried again.
"That is not my question. Do you love inflation? Yes or no?" Sykes cut in.
"No, I would prefer lower inflation," admitted Wright.
"You would prefer low inflation," replied Sykes. "Do you know that your boss, essentially President Trump, just stated that he loved inflation?"
Trump did, in fact, do exactly that. While speaking in the Oval Office, he was asked by a reporter if he's concerned that the new inflation numbers will hurt Republicans in the midterm elections.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed earlier today that U.S. inflation has accelerated for the third month in a row and rose 4.2% since May of last year. It's the highest it's been in three years.
"No, I love it. The numbers were great," Trump told the reporter. "You know what I really love? I love the inflation. You know why? Because as soon as this war is over, you know, I can say it now, something you didn't know... Do you know we've been taking out millions of barrels of oil? Nobody knows it."
Wright's efforts to spin Trump's obviously damaging soundbite fell flat on their faceโ
"He's an entertaining, hyperbolic guy who's done tremendous leadership and unbalance is driving inflation down," said the Secretary.
"So it sounds like you're unaware that President Trump just mentioned that he loved inflation," said Sykes. "And I certainly don't want to get you in trouble with your boss, but it sounds like you don't love inflation, but he does. But let me ask you this other question...
"Are you aware that the United States was taking millions of barrels of gasoline from Iran in the Strait of Hormuz?" she asked.
"We are preventing the flow of Iranian oil through the Strait of Hormuz," managed Wright.
"That is not the question that I just asked you," said Sykes, verbally hammering him. "Were you aware that the United States has been taking millions of gallons of oil from the Strait of Hormuz?"
"I'm just not sure 'taking' is the right word," attempted Wright. "We're preventing the flow of it."
Sykes then played footage of Trump using the word "taking" to describe his piratical actions.
"Mr. Secretary, it seems like you didn't know about this either," said Sykes. "So why would the United States be taking out millions of barrels of oil from Iran?"
"Well, it's essential that we prevent oil sales from generating revenue for Iran to spend to develop nuclear weapons and oppress the peopleโ" tried Wright, pushing more of the same lies.
"Mr. Secretary, I understand this might be an uncomfortable line of questioning and you don't want to do it, but you are not answering my question," interjected the congresswoman. "So I'm going to ask you again and I'm going to hope that you will answer it honestly. Did you know that the United States was taking millions of gallons of oil from Iran?"
"I'm unaware," admitted Energy Secretary Wright.
"So do you think that the President is lying based on the audio that you just heard? And I will send it to you in case you say you didn't hear it," said Sykes.
"Oh, no, I do not think the president is lying..." said Wright, ever the loyal minion. "I think the President's talking casually about our efforts to stop the flow of Iranian oil."
"Do you think that war is casual?" shot back Sykes. "Do you think that it is appropriate to talk casually about war?"
"I think you talk to all different audiences and you talk in all different styles, but I don't have any serious objection to what he said," said Wright, desperate not to upset Trump.
"You don't have any serious objection for someone talking about war casually," said Sykes. "Do you have an objection that there are 13 service people who are dead? There are hundreds more that are injured, but we should be talking about war casually."
Wright then tried to spin his wheels and insisted that Trump takes his duties and this war seriously. It's a narrative that only the most diehard MAGA cultists still believe.
"He is the President of the United States of America!" said Sykes. "He is the commander-in-chief who is responsible for 13 service members who have died and hundreds more who are injured. So you mean to say to me, testifying in front of this committee in the United States House of Representatives, that it is appropriate for the commander-in-chief to talk about war casually?"
"He speaks candidly, openly and honestly. I think all of America benefits from that," said Wright.
"Well, I appreciate your attempt to protect your boss and to keep your job," replied Sykes. "But let me be very clear with you. It is not appropriate to talk about war casually. He is clearly keeping you in the dark about what he is doing in Iran."
Wright insisted that he is "proud" to be working for Trump and "proud to be part of the team."
"Well, I would not be proud if my boss sent me up Shit's Creek and left me here in a committee without adequate information and speaking casually about war. That is a horrible place to be," replied Sykes.

This is what I'm talking about. The degree to which this is bad journalism can't be oversold. Readers get no sense that the man at the center of this faced 67 allegations of sexual abuse, no sense that 90% of those in these talks shouldn't have been there. https://t.co/mqr7UFDrZx

Remember when we were told pardoning Jan. 6 participants would heal the nation? One of them (Jake Lang) just got arrested on a terroristic threat charge. Thatโs certainly one interpretation of โunity.โ
People seem surprised that Trump's AG was using private email. But the Jan 6 investigation showed: Trump officials do EVERYTHING on private email. That's why their comms had to be subpoenae'd. Nothing was archived.
