#GenderEquality
🚨 Tracy Mafa @tracymutoe from CNRG gave the opening remarks! She emphasized the need to break barriers to women’s participation in the extractive sectors, equal access, leadership, and opportunity for women to thrive in mining!
#CNRGVoices
The 9th Gender and Extractives Symposium is underway.
🚨Zimbabwe’s mining sector is booming—but women are still being left behind.
Despite their vital contributions, women remain locked out of leadership, stuck in precarious artisanal roles, and burdened by environmental damage, unpaid care work, and regressive tax policies.
Meanwhile, profit shifting and opaque tax incentives rob Zimbabwe of vital revenues that could fund gender-responsive public services like healthcare, GBV support, and climate-resilient infrastructure.
At the 9th Gender and Extractives Symposium, we say: it’s time to #AccelerateAction.
We’re calling for:
✅ Transparent & fair taxation of mining revenues
✅ Equal participation and leadership for women in the sector
✅ Sustainable, climate-smart mining practices
✅ Support for women-led enterprises and small-scale miners
By integrating tax justice with gender equality, we can turn mining into a true engine of inclusive development and environmental stewardship.

In 2023, President Emmerson Mnangagwa launched the Responsible Mining Audit initiative to promote mining that contributes to economic growth whilst safeguarding the environment & community welfare. What have been the findings so far?
The Chairperson of the Environment Portfolio Committee Hon Matema underscored that Environment Social and Governance risks in mining communities are a human rights issue. He urged stakeholders to respect provisions of the Nagoya Protocol on access and benefit sharing
The Ministry of Mines encourages mining companies to invest in ESG reporting, sharing information with communities for transparency and meaningful corporate social responsibility. @ZELA_Infor @BuheraResNet
@KMutisi $150 000 per province for dedicated sons of the soil who spend years in the trenches vamwe zvirema wopiwa 50 dollars kwakuzodii manje #WarVetFund Mwari mbuya vangu kubikita vachaiwanawo here.
@KazembeKazembe3 My thinking though honourable is if we invest in a system that captures these behaviours without putting one's life whilst recording and driving at the same time we can manage to reduce these issues we need a functional virtual traffic management system that record traffic offnse
MUTOKO
Mutoko South MP, Hon Isaac Tasikani, Silveira House, Mutoko RDC, ZRP, EMA, the DDC's office and the people of Chitangazuva came together to refill huge pits left by illegal miners looking for lithium in the area. The open pits were a threat to both humans and animals in the area.
@nickmangwana weldone @SilveiraHouse64 and all the key actors RDC,DDC, OPC and Honourable Tasikani together we will go far and wide in addressing Environmental Social Governance Issues.
