@42jonski4071@RSPBEngland@Natures_Voice@KentWildlife Rook's gular pouch can show when the bird has been feeding something like a "crop" in other in other birds ( but not low as in a crop) a Rooks pouch is high in its throat. Both male and female Rooks have one it is quite normal .
As many of you will know Nicky and I recently married . So off to Kenya we went on Honeymoon Two wonderful experiences so Just thought I should share some images .
Nicky and I have been trapping recording and releasing some of the moths in our garden and we have had some pleasant surprises best to date being Small marbled ,Blairs Mocha and last night Marbled fern . A far better start than we could have hoped for .
Superb days birding Nicky and I went to see the Spotted Crake at Sandwich, showed well but distant not many birders there but very good company . Then on to St Margaret's a bit of a wait for the 3 Dotterel and they offered great views. There are 3 Dotterel in the last image
A couple of nights away in the new forest gave us some great birds. So many spot fly a pair of distant Goshawks ,fleeting moments of wood warbler and on our return home Galloways Lydd ranges a stunning Zitting Cisticola and Dungeness produced Icterine warbler what a week !!!
Nicky and I had just retuned to the Dungeness RSPB visitor center after a walk when it was mentioned that a man had seen a Night heron on the reserve Thank you ! We put the word out and Nicky soon re-found the bird very obliging for a Night heron .These images only took 5 hours😀
Dungeness today seeing the Iberian Chiffchaff at South view and in great company .Hearing it calling several times and singing for a few moments. Viewing is being allowed by the home owner so please treat this with respect and only park on the roadside not the gravel drive.
The Dungeness power station gave us black redstart and peregrine whilst on the reserve bittern past the viewpoint & 2 bearded tits on the grit tray. Hookers pit 9 more beardies and 6 white-fronted geese . Dengemarsh hide had displaying marsh harriers and a black necked grebe.
Great start to the year despite time constraints .All birds taken in well known areas in Kent . The last image is a marsh harrier having a tiff with a hen harrier as they came in to roost . Also short eared owl ,hawfinch and grey partridge . Total for the year so far 119
