Appreciation of British Museum care of the Parthenon Marbles & eagerly anticipate their Reunification in Athens to see them together in all their artistic glory
The marbles belong in the Parthenon. In these difficult times, universal cultural heritage should uplift humanity, not divide it. #ParthenonMarbles

Today we launched the Greek edition of Geoffrey Robertson’s book “Who Owns History”.
Σήμερα βγήκε στα βιβλιοπωλεία η Ελληνική έκδοση του βιβλίου του Τζέφρι Ρόμπερτσον «Σε Ποιον Ανήκει η Ιστορία».
So, what's this all about?
2500 years ago, the ancient Greeks constructed a temple, the likes of which have not been seen since.
The #Parthenon was covered with spectacular marbles giving a detailed insight into ancient Greek religion, society & life. #MuseumsUnlocked
#MuseumsUnlocked#Parthenon The brutal dismemberment of Parthenon by Lord Elgin's men - commencing in 1801 - was captured by the English painter Edward Dodwell. The use of saws to hack through large sections of the Panathenaic frieze also caused structural damage @MuseumsUnlocked
When the #ParthenonSculptures finally arrived in London they immediately caused a stir. #JohnKeats, in awe-struck deference, was moved to pen a sonnet about the #ElginMarbles, taken by the artistic achievement of “Grecian grandeur” and the “magnitude” projected by the sculptures.
The #ParthenonSculptures were purchased by British Government in 1816 and transferred to the #BritishMuseum where they still languish more than 200 years later. The acquisition of the #ElginMarbles came to be regarded as the single most important event in the museum's history.
It is against that historical backdrop that the campaign for return and reunification of #ParthenonMarbles has gained support, not just within #Greece but across the world, in an ongoing campaign that seeks to restore to #Athens the keys to its ancient history. #MuseumsUnlocked
Come on 🇬🇧- let’s do the right thing and reunite the #parthenonsculptures for the benefit of the whole world. What better signal for a new #globalbritain

Half the Parthenon sculptures remain imprisoned in the British Museum which has no legal moral or artistic right to have them as they received stolen goods with no clear legal title
Time for UK to return them to Greece

The #LostMyMarbles campaign has been busy over the past few months, driving awareness and support for the return of the #Parthenon marbles. Really busy.
To start, we protested outside the @britishmuseum when it re-opened and made international headlines...
