It’s important to distinguish between the different Hantavirus strains and the transmission dynamics associated with each.
The classical form of hantavirus infection is primarily zoonotic, with transmission occurring from rodents to humans, most commonly through inhalation of aerosolized particles from infected urine, droppings, or saliva. Because transmission is tied to environmental exposure rather than sustained person to person spread, outbreaks have historically remained geographically contained and relatively limited once the rodent source is identified and controlled.
The concern surrounding the novel or “potentially” engineered strain is more efficient human to human airborne transmission. With this transmission, it fundamentally alters the epidemiological profile of the virus by significantly increasing its transmissibility relative to traditional hantavirus strains.
Severe presentations, particularly hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS), are associated with substantial mortality rates, often cited in the range of 30–40%, which is why any meaningful shift in transmission capability would warrant serious global attention.

Jerome Powell should face investigation and potential prosecution for fraud and mismanagement over the Federal Reserve’s headquarters renovation.
Under his leadership, the project has ballooned to an astonishing $2.5 billion. That works out to approximately $9,000 per square foot for the Marriner S. Eccles Building. That cost far exceeds typical expenses for even the most high-end federal projects. That total is over double the $1.1 billion it cost to build the AT&T Stadium (the iconic home of the Dallas Cowboys) despite the Fed’s renovation covering far less square footage and involving a retrofit, rather than brand new construction.
Reports of lavish features such as rooftop gardens, premium marble finishes, and oversized office spaces averaging 512 square feet per employee — triple the recommended government standard — have led builders to compare the project to a “Palace of Versailles.” Powell’s claims in congressional testimony that there were no luxury upgrades have been proven false. He misled lawmakers and violated planning regulations.
Such reckless spending of our taxpayer dollars demands serious accountability.
