Things that will now get you insta-blocked by me:
Being racist or bigoted against LGBTQ+ people.
Using retard as a slur.
Openly supporting Trump
Saying AI "learns like humans do"
Pretending all genAI isn't based on theft.
Using genAI.
This list is not exhaustive.
@OracleGuruMike@jandrewellis Except it's not a tool. A tool is something you use while performing a task. AI does the task FOR you, making it an automation, not a tool.
@IMAO_ If it does the task for you. It's not a tool, it's an automation, and REAL artists don't want to let a machine do the actual art part of the process for them.
@NemPerez Mental gymnastics are only necessary here if, for some reason, you think Scorsese is infallible.
He's not. He's made excellent films in the past, that doesn't preclude him from working with slop merchants.
@USAmbCanada And you wonder why Canadians have stopped visiting your country and buying your products.
Posts like this show that you are absolutely unsuitable to be the ambassador to Canada.
Please resign immediately.
@harrisonlowman@atRachelGilmore The "grey" in children being taken away from their parents and then mistreated so badly that large enough numbers of them died so that it became necessary to bury their bodies in unmarked mass graves?
Should we look at the "grey" in the acts of Jeffrey Dahmer next?
@MOVIETVWRITERX I get that frustration. That's kind of why I made the post. He did the right thing, at a personal cost. I'm not able to make him whole on that by myself, but an animation studio with the right distribution deals could.
There's a huge opportunity here for some studio to cash in on all the good will Jorge is generating by taking this financial hit, by funding his next non-AI project.
@MOVIETVWRITERX I'll happily pay to see what he does next as long as it doesn't use AI, but an anti-AI studio backing his project is going to be a lot better for him than crowdfunding ever could hope to be.
@mexopolis This shows real character. It's not easy to admit you were wrong about something, even to yourself, let alone when the whole world is watching (and there's money at stake). Looking forward to seeing what you make next without needing to resort to generative AI.
@IMAO_ The actual act of trying to take what's in your head and make it real is what makes one an artist. If a computer is doing it for you, you aren't being an artist.
@mattworkman@mexopolis The solution to Hollywood's budget dilemma isn't to use AI to cut costs, it's to let filmmakers cook, like what happened in the '70s. Let talented artists start making mid-budget dramas and action/thrillers again, so that not every movie needs to make a billion to turn a profit.
@Cabanimation@OtakuMan@arvalis@mexopolis You'd be wrong. There isn't a generative ai model that works on that small a subset of data. You need the full model first, then you can "fine tune" it to output a specific style, but they ALL work on theft.

@DougTenNapel Dude, there's a guy who made his own *feature length* animated film, without touching AI once.

The answer to "then why havenβt you?" seems to amount to just a pile of excuses in most cases.
