Dr Manmohan Singh’s life in public service was defined by integrity, dignity and quiet conviction. The Supreme Court’s recent decision upholding the CBI’s clean chit in the coal allocation case once again shows how baseless the campaign against his integrity was.

His tenure as Prime Minister was a period of major economic and social transformation - from strong growth and poverty reduction to landmark rights-based laws such as MGNREGA, RTI, the Forest Rights Act, Right to Education and the National Food Security Act. He also strengthened India’s standing in the world while remaining deeply committed to democratic institutions, transparency and accountability.
