@goldstone_tony It’s simply unreasonable to expect a salaried NHS employee to waste their time on this. If NHSBSA provide the data we can declare it. Otherwise life is too short.
1/17 Important thread 🧵 on the unnecessary complexity of pensions taxation and why it's unreasonable to expect individuals to "estimate" liabilities when administrators struggle. Please read to the end. #NHSPension#PensionTax
Nick Robinson, "You've had a candidate who says Muslims should be removed from the UK"
Nigel Farage, "Really"
Nick Robinson, "You've had a candidate who claims that Africans have a low IQ"
"Why do you think that people with extreme and unpleasant views rally to your cause?"
Nigel Farage, "We've had an awful lot of candidates stitched up in the most extraordinary way. With quotes taken out of context"
Nick Robinson, "Why do they rally to your cause?"
Nigel Farage, "The truth of it is, before I got involved Reform was virtual
Nick Robinson, "I'm asking you a different question, I'm asking about you"
Nigel Farage, "No no no no no no no no no no no. They're not there because of me"
Nick Robinson, "You founded the party"
Nigel Farage, "No no no no no no no"
Nick Robinson, "You're the owner of the party"
Nigel Farage, "I've had no involvement in the day to day running of the party for over three years. These candidates were recruited before I said I would play an active role in the party. And frankly, they were so desperate for people to stand, and we employed a vetting company that didn't do the job"
Nick Robinson, "You can't run vetting but you could find £150 billion in public spending savings"
@Sir_SR@TheBMA@BMA_Consultants Contracted work above 10PA has surely always attracted leave. The tricky area is extra contractual work, and I know that many Trusts have settled claims from junior doctors over holiday pay for bank shifts.
@AAttfield@TheBMA@DrPhilBanfield Sadly they are quite happy for the NHS not to perform if it helps them to con the electorate into believing that it should be abandoned
"I would like to ask whether you have communicated your concerns directly to the Prime Minister who, tonight, could similarly write to me and open pay negotiations with both junior doctors and consultants?" Read @DrPhilBanfield's reply to NHS England's letter on patient safety.
He also said the pay award was decided ‘by an independent pay review body’.
The DDRB is not independent. The Government sets its remit and appoints its members. As a Conservative backbencher said earlier this year, the Government ‘basically rigs’ the process.
@jburnmurdoch@FT@ONS@NHSDigital@TomHCalver@thetimes@BenZaranko@TheIFS @Billy_Palmer_ @NuffieldTrust 17/ It may sound like I'm nitpicking but it makes a BIG difference - all unions generally start from the beginning of austerity (and use RPI as a better guide to household costs). The rest of the economy has caught up (as per the charts), now its the turn of the public sector.
1/ NEW & IMPORTANT: OK on the eve of junior/consultant strikes, we need to talk about these charts (NEW data just in!) 👇
We need to look at them to fix waiting lists & its increasingly clear next GE will be won or lost on the NHS
Please read the whole 🧵 & share widely / RT
2/ You'll notice when ministers are in the media, they often talk about how hard "your viewers/listeners" have been hit by inflation. But what we need to do is separate fact from fiction (aka LIES), and it was 👇chart from excellent @jburnmurdoch@FT that really showed this well
It’s #WorldHeartDay 🫀 – let's spread the word to encourage more people to confirm their decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register.
Thanks to the kindness of donors and their loved ones, 207 hearts were transplanted last year in the UK to save lives.

@MVoikhansky@trentconsultant You can’t seriously believe what you say surely?
Look at the graph again. Waiting times start rising when new demand outstrips the resources to treat. Then if the issues aren’t fixed the waiting lists rise quickly. We were there way before covid.
If you're a surgical/medical oncologist wrestling with industrial action next week, look at this chart, shortages of staff, oncologists, pathologists, anaesthetists, all partly driven by NHS pay & conditions becoming uncompetitive. We all need to fix this, take action next week.
Shame on you @NICEComms. Agreeing that healthcare professionals can offer pseudoscientific pain relief to women in labour is nothing short of a scandal. Shame on you.

Thanks so much to everyone who’s watching my first TV series #CardiacArrest on BBC4 and iPlayer. Season 2 airs tonight at 10pm. And thank you to all the brilliant cast and crew who did everything to elevate scripts by a lowly junior hospital doctor with zero writing experience.
I talked about consultant's pay on @TimesRadio this morning – here are some charts to go with it
1. Consultants' pay has fallen about 21% in real terms since 2010. Their pay has been eroded more than that of other medical staff, and considerably more than the average salary
