Ruto just spent 40 minutes trying to create a false equivalence between our national values set out in the constitution and his so called “development”. Kenyans, please trust me when i tell you there is a reason the Preamble comes before Article 43. You don’t get to the “development “ clauses until and unless you have taken into account the reasons we passed this constitution in the first place. Democracy, Human Rights, Freedom, Equality, Rule of Law and Social Justice.

FELLOW KENYANS, THE CONSTITUTION IS UNDER SIEGE! 🇰🇪

Our Constitution was designed with one clear principle. No single political office should have unchecked control over public money. That is why it separates political leadership from the management of the country’s finances.

Article 225(1) establishes the National Treasury as the constitutional custodian of public finances. Its role is too important to be left to politics alone.

Yet Section 11 of the Public Finance Management Act places the National Treasury under the National Executive and under the authority of a political Cabinet Secretary.

This is not a small legal issue. It goes to the heart of constitutional governance.

Parliament has the power to make laws that implement the Constitution. It does not have the power to change the Constitution through an ordinary Act of Parliament.

When the independence of public financial management is weakened, the checks that protect taxpayers’ money are weakened too.

The Constitution must remain above politics. Every law passed by Parliament must respect it.

If we fail to defend Chapter Twelve today, we risk eroding one of the most important safeguards for accountability and responsible use of public resources.

The Constitution belongs to all of us. Defending it is a duty we all share.

My brothers and sisters from Western Kenya, the bribe price they pay for us to make a bad choice on the ballot is fanda and omugadi. In Mountain Kenya, they are paid in boreholes, electricity, gas cylinders, two weeks old efiminywi and boats. They take the bribe price but still do the right thing. Anyway, we take after our two main leaders, “buy one get the other one for free” na “wakishiba, hawana ubaya.”

Violence has no place in a house of worship. Today’s goon attacks targeting leaders and worshippers at church in Kisumu where @edwinsifuna and @orengo_james were present, and on @HonKangata and other Linda Mwananchi leaders in Nyandarua reflect a disturbing pattern of organised political intimidation and are utterly unacceptable. That this is happening again following similar events in the recent past shows a dangerous pattern of orchestrated intimidation that must be confronted decisively.

Places of worship are sanctuaries, not battlegrounds for political thuggery or state-sponsored impunity. Every attack on a church is an attack on our Constitution, our freedom of conscience and our collective dignity. We cannot normalise bows, arrows, tear gas and hired goons trailing political leaders into churches while those who plan, fund and deploy them walk free.

The masterminds behind these repeated assaults must be unmasked and permanently removed from positions of power and privilege, because accountability is the only antidote to the rising culture of goonism. The police and security agencies must act without fear or favour, protect worshippers and leaders, and demonstrate that no individual is above the law or shielded by their office or political colour.

As citizens, people of faith and defenders of democratic governance, we must stand in solidarity with all leaders of the Linda Mwananchi movement who faced attacks today, and all worshippers whose right to a peaceful service was violated. Kenya must choose constitutionalism over chaos, dialogue over violence and principled politics over hired goons, because if we allow attacks on churches to become routine, we have already surrendered the soul of our republic.

Listened to William Ruto talking about how he will shock his competitors in 2027 and I asked myself: when did governing Kenya become a campaign?

Mr. President, ordinary Kenyans are not your competitors.

We are the people who believed you.

We are the people who stood in long queues and gave you the mandate to lead.

Today, millions of Kenyans wake up every morning worried about school fees, hospital bills, unemployment, insecurity and a cost of living that keeps rising. Yet the conversation from the top is already about 2027.

We did not elect a campaigner-in-chief. We elected a president.

The greatest shock in 2027 will not come from politicians.

It will come from ordinary Kenyans who have learned painful lessons. 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐖𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐓.

Many voted for William Ruto believing he understood their struggles because he called himself a hustler.

Today, many feel that promise has been replaced by excuses, taxes, public relations and endless politics.

Leadership is about results, not speeches. It is about service, not slogans.

Kenya cannot afford to keep making the same mistake and expecting different results.

We owe our children a country that works.

We owe ourselves leaders who focus on solving problems instead of preparing for the next election.

2027 is not about revenge. It is about accountability.

And for many Kenyans, one lesson has become clear: some mistakes are too costly to repeat.

One day, I was in a boda boda stage and I heard them talking about the Public debts.

I listened then I interrupted and asked them a very simple question.

" Nyinyi kama bodaboda, si mko na SACCO?"

They said yes.

" Na kwa hii SACCO yenu, si mko na chairman, Deputy Chairman na Treasurer?"

They said yes and I went on.

" Now imagine your Chairman, his Deputy and the Treasurer waamue saa hii waende Equity Bank, wachukue loan na jina ya SACCO thirty million bila kuwauliza, alafu hiyo pesa iende kwa accounts zao watumie kwa matumizi yao ya kibinafsi, then one day Equity Bank comes to you SACCO members that you have a loan to pay. You never consented, you never saw the money, do you allow your contributions to be used in paying that loan?"

MAJAMAA waliruka bwana, " hiyo hatuwezi bwana. John ( SACCO chairman) mkijaribu hiyo tunawaua."

Thereafter, I told them that that is the situation we are in as a country.

A situation where we are being overtaxed to pay debts we never incurred.
