जवळपास वर्षभरानंतर पुन्हा एकदा मुंबई वॉटर टँकर असोसिएशनने आज मध्यरात्रीपासून संप पुकारला आहे.

@mybmc ने लागू केलेल्या पाणी कपातीमुळे मुंबई आधीच पाणीटंचाईचा सामना करत आहे. जरी ती १०% असल्याचे सांगितले जात असले, तरी प्रत्यक्षात काही भागांमध्ये ती ह्यापेक्षाही अधिक आहे.

अशा परिस्थितीतही केंद्र सरकारच्या सेंट्रल ग्राउंड वॉटर अथॉरिटीच्या काही नियमांची अंमलबजावणी मुंबईसाठी अव्यवहार्य पद्धतीने केली जात आहे.

सरकार पुरेसे पाणी पुरवू शकत नाही, त्यामुळे नागरिकांना टँकरवर अवलंबून राहावे लागते आणि आता त्याच टँकर व्यवसायावर दंडात्मक कारवाई होत असल्याने संपाची वेळ आली आहे.

गेल्या वर्षीही बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिका आणि भाजपने हस्तक्षेपाचे नाटक केले, नियमांमध्ये बदल करण्याचे आश्वासन दिले; मात्र प्रत्यक्षात काहीही झाले नाही.

भाजपची सत्ता सर्व स्तरांवर असूनही त्यांनी दिलेली आश्वासने पाळली नाहीत आणि मुंबईकरांना त्रास सहन करावा लागत आहे.

२०२२ मध्ये भाजप सरकारने आमचा डिसॅलिनेशन (समुद्राच्या पाण्याचे गोड्या पाण्यात रूपांतर) प्रकल्प रद्द केला नसता, तर तो २०२५ पर्यंत कार्यान्वित झाला असता आणि आजची पाणीटंचाई उद्भवली नसती.

तरीदेखील, आजही @JalShaktiMin हे नियम बदलू शकते. दुर्दैवाने या सरकारमधील कोणीही हस्तक्षेप करण्यास तयार नाही आणि मुंबई मात्र यात भरडली जात आहे.

Almost a year after the last strike, once again the Mumbai Water Tanker Association has called for a strike from midnight.

🚨 Mumbai already faces water shortage due to water cuts that the @mybmc has implemented. Even though it says 10%, it actually is much more in certain areas.

🚨 Even in such a situation, the government is now implementing certain norms of the Central Ground Water Authority that are illogical for Mumbai.

🚨 The government cannot supply enough water, people are forced to be dependent on tankers and the government is now penalising tankers, leading to a strike.

🚨 Last year, the BMC and bjp pretended to intervene, promised changes in norms and nothing happened.

🚨 The bjp has government at all levels and refuses to keep its promises and ensures Mumbai suffers.

🚨 Had the bjp regime not scrapped our desalination project in 2022, it would have been operating by 2025 and no shortfall would occur.

🚨 Nonetheless, even now, the @JalShaktiMin can still amend its norms. Sadly as of now, everyone in this regime, refuses to intervene, while Mumbai suffers.

नेते विकले जातील, पण निष्ठा विकली जात नाही!
नेते येतात आणि जातात, पण संघटना ही कार्यकर्त्यांच्या रक्तावर आणि घामावर उभी असते. निवडणुकीच्या बाजारात निष्ठावंतांच्या पायातली चप्पल झिजते, पण तो आपला स्वाभिमान कधीच विकत नाही. पैशाच्या बळावर पदे मिळतील, सुरक्षा रक्षक मिळतील, पण लाखो शिवसैनिकांच्या मनातील आदर आणि प्रेम कधीच विकत घेता येत नाही.
गद्दार बाळ माने किंवा त्यांच्यासारख्या अनेकांनी जरी साथ सोडली, तरी जोपर्यंत आमच्यासारखे कडवट आणि विचारांशी पक्के असलेले शिवसैनिक मैदानात पाय रोवून उभे आहेत, तोपर्यंत शिवसेनेचा भगवा कधीच फिका पडणार नाही. फाटलेल्या आभाळाला थिगळ लावण्याचं अफाट कसब फक्त आणि फक्त सामान्य कार्यकर्त्याच्या हातांमध्ये असतं.
काळ कठीण आहे, पण वावटळीतही जो टिकून राहतो, तोच खरा निष्ठावंत!

🚨 After a quick shower of rain disrupted the traffic with water logging at Andheri Subway, apparently now the regime is reviving our plan for rain water holding tanks. 🚨

As guardian minister for Mumbai, and simultaneously having government in BMC, I had the good fortune to work with the then Mayor @KishoriPednekar ji and officers for our projects of rain water holding tanks at ‼️ Hind Mata- Gandhi Market area &
‼️ Milan Subway: ensuring both remain flood free, provided the pumps are activated in time.

We had initiated identifying such traditional water logging spots across the city and also where their rain water holding tanks can be made from 2019.

The two spots that we created the tanks on priority, have been flooding spots for decades.
We had done a contour survey of the city too.
It’s a concept called sponge city.

It is shocking to see that despite being in the regime unilaterally from the Union Government to now the BMC (and BMC for the past 4 years through administration), the bjp hasn’t implemented important schemes like rain water holding tanks.

⚠️ Making Mumbai more Monsoon Resilient (by making desalination plants for our water supply) and Monsoon Adaptive (by making it a sponge city), is the need of the hour- both of which have been held up since mid 2022 by the bjp regime.

More so, it is surprising that despite having all levels of elected representatives in Andheri, the subway can be water logged within a light shower, and be neglected of any possible solutions for the past 4 years.

Another Tiger Corridor is being converted to mining zone by the Government of Maharashtra. That too illegally.

In April, we protested against a Mine being permitted in Lohardongri, and environmentalist @banduplan also sat on a fast till it was cancelled.

Now the State Board for Wildlife has gone beyond its jurisdiction, diluted another tiger corridor, pressurised the Principal Conservator of Forest to withdraw his objections and allowed a mine in a tiger corridor.

The question being, can the State Board for Wildlife dilute nationally protected tiger corridors?

Is the SBWL more powerful than the @moefcc of Government of India and the @ntca_india ?

I have written to the National Tiger Conservation Authority and the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change on 2nd June, seeking their intervention.

Yesterday, @ShivSenaUBT_ protested against the bjp regime, asking it to inaugurate the Gorai Mangrove Park.

As Guardian Minister of Mumbai, I had the privilege to initiate it.

It has been ready for the past 3 months, but the VIPs of the regime have no time for Mumbai and Mangroves!

अंधेरी सबवे येथे थोड्याशा पावसामुळे पाणी साचले आणि वाहतूक कोंडी झाली. त्यानंतर आता उशीराने जाग आलेले प्रशासन आमची रेन वॉटर होल्डिंग टँकची योजना पुन्हा कार्यान्वित करत आहे.

मुंबईचा पालकमंत्री म्हणून, तसेच त्यावेळी बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिकेतही आमची सत्ता असताना, तत्कालीन महापौर किशोरी पेडणेकर जी आणि अधिकाऱ्यांसोबत काम करण्याचे भाग्य मला लाभले. त्यातून पुढील ठिकाणी रेन वॉटर होल्डिंग टॅंक उभारले...
1. हिंदमाता – गांधी मार्केट परिसर
2. मिलन सबवे

रेन वॉटर होल्डिंग टँकचे पंप वेळेत सुरु करून ही दोन्ही ठिकाणं पूरमुक्त राहतील अशी यंत्रणा कार्यान्वित केली.

शहरातील पूर्वापार पाणी साचणारी ठिकाणे ओळखून आणि त्या ठिकाणी रेन वॉटर होल्डिंग टँक कुठे उभारता येतील ह्यावर आम्ही २०१९ मध्ये काम सुरू केले होते.

ज्या दोन ठिकाणी आम्ही प्राधान्याने टँक उभारले, त्या ठिकाणी अनेक दशकांपासून पाणी साचत होते.

आम्ही शहराचे ‘contour’ सर्वेक्षणही केले होते. ह्यालाच 'स्पंज सिटी'ही म्हटले जाते.

हे धक्कादायक आहे की केंद्र सरकारपासून ते आता महानगरपालिका प्रशासनापर्यंत सत्ता असूनही (आणि गेली चार वर्षे महानगरपालिका प्रशासनही त्यांच्या नियंत्रणाखाली असतानाही), भाजपने रेन वॉटर होल्डिंग टँकसारख्या महत्त्वाच्या योजना बंद पाडल्या.

मुंबईला अधिक 'मान्सून रेजिलियंट' (पाणीपुरवठ्यासाठी डिसॅलिनेशन प्रकल्प उभारून) आणि ‘मान्सून अॅडॅप्टिव्ह’ (स्पंज सिटी बनवून) बनवणे ही काळाची गरज आहे. परंतु २०२२ च्या मध्यापासून भाजप सरकार ह्या दोन्ही उपक्रमांना विसरून गेले.

ह्याहुनही आश्चर्याची बाब म्हणजे अंधेरीमध्ये सर्व स्तरांवरील स्थानिक लोकप्रतिनिधी सत्ताधारी पक्षाचे असूनही, अगदी हलक्या पावसातही सबवेमध्ये पाणी साचते आणि गेली चार वर्षे त्यावर कोणतीही ठोस उपाययोजना करण्यात आलेली नाही.
