@Ryan_DiPentima If it isn't Cam Smith coming to Miami with Alvarez and Neyens, then this makes no F'n sense at all. That's the only way Bendix could possibly even begin to justify trading Stowers now, while this team is in postseason contention. It's the kind of trade that will piss off diehard.

But the issue is at 23 y/o, it might take a yr or 2, and by that time, he's in arbitration and 2-3 yrs from free agency. So, is the process just repeated with a Cam Smith hitting his prime?? Not a recipe for success.

@FOFProspects If we can't keep arb eligible players, this team will never fully compete. Stowers is a guy in his prime, who should be fueling a competitive offense the next couple yrs. Swapping him for more players that'll need yrs before their prime, just to repeat the process, is BS!

@mpicardi @CraigMish @JonScharfman If we are to get hot, we need a 4th reliable SP, controlled or rented. Go get Casey Mize. We have a ready made replacement for their rotation, Brax. That'll upgrade our rotation and BP In 1 move (push Phillips back to the BP where he has a sub 2 ERA). Makes us a better team.

@TimothyGaffney2 @RealEly Because controllable hitters have value and plenty of teams are looking for offense at catcher. Could turn him into a better roster fit that is also controllable. Or possibility a couple really good SP prospects nearing MLB ready. Or a ready 3rd baseman. Hicks is just a tough fit

Might as well use something to add a guy like Casey Mize, who won't be overly expensive as a rental. Getting that 4th reliable SP for a playoff run, and for the playoffs, would be huge
