@RealTweetofMe I don't think that's true - I don't see how any air campaign that the US could wage would be able to achieve a strategic victory, and I straight up don't think the US has the capability to do a ground invasion.
@SwannMarcus89 I think the problem is more systemic than that. The type of politics that upholds a technocratic center is just as endangered as the left is - there's a reason the center-right is dead or dying across the west.
@Faj1791 It's very difficult for people who feel as if they're losing their societies to behave constructively. That was what gave us MAGA ten years ago, and it is what is increasingly going to make left and liberal politics unconstructive going into the 2030s.
@NathanpmYoung That's the point of panpsychism to me - that you are an experiencing entity; that you come from a lineage with no clear line between experience and non-experience; and that you can cling to arbitrary standards of experience, or see experience as fundamental to mechanism.
@mandylu yes, but only if it becomes painfully clear after years and years of attrition and degradation that each individual has to not only have values, but apply them with attention that they haven't built yet.
@Faj1791@brad_theory there's socialism, and then there's *Socialism*. A big difference between soclibs and libcons in america seems to be about whether or not the left-progressive influence on the democratic party and it's rhetoric is 'socialist' in nature or 'Socialist' in nature.
@dhaaruni What's weird is that sometimes racial bloc voting happens, and sometimes it doesn't - even in the same geography! Sometimes in the same year!
@alt_ccc@TrueSlazac The cost is the broken lives and corruption - it's not worth it when the information they convey is predicated on a mechanism that influences the administrative state
@BenjaminCrew1 I saw this anecdote the other day, on the Wikipedia page for John Brown’s Body, and it made me cry. When Union soldiers said “let us die to make men free”, it wasn’t an idle statement.
