@GMSokolovIvan Let’s say he clearly strived for it with his opening choice… which, funnily enough, lead to a hedgehog structure, as the one he lost in Qatar. I think the new world order would have had more difficulties against 1…e5 🙂
@PHChess He looks at it from a mathematical point of view, and indeed, chess can theoretically be solved. But does it make it less worthy? Where is the human perspective, the fact that we can fail - and often do fail. In the difficulty lies the thrill, isn’t it?
@PHChess The problem with Musk is… “One does not speak, unless one knows”. And frankly, he knows almost nothing about chess. He knows a lot about other things, AI probably included, but not about chess.
@GerhardRiewe@FIDE_chess Absolutely, your second point is the one here! Since several rounds of the Swiss league are played in separate venues, the presence of an IA isn’t guaranteed. Hence, no norm possible.
Can’t think of a more stupid rule, tbh.
A question to @FIDE_chess and its arbiters, resp. rating commission:
Can an event be FIDE rated but not eligible for norms, even though all norm requirements are fulfilled?
Hint, so that the question makes sense at all: this is the case with the Swiss league!
As usual, I wasn’t planning to take part in the World rapid/blitz championship due to the ridiculous time schedule over Christmas and New Year. However, I reckon that times are difficult. “You know who” may be advised that I’m available on those dates for Elo laundering.
