✨🎉 In 2025, around 13,000 sick, injured & orphaned wild animals were helped at Tiggywinkles - each one, because a compassionate person chose to stop, care, and seek help.
We can only do what we do because of the kindness, generosity and support of others.
Thank you! 💚🦔🦊🦢
The night temperatures are predicted to drop below freezing this week, and while most hedgehogs are safely hibernating, many are not.
Those born too late and still underweight, and those who are a little sickly, are still around, desperately searching for a kind garden that provides dry kitten food and ice-free water all winter.
Please let that be you.
Passengers are our eyes and ears on the railway network 👀👂

Congratulations to the England women’s rugby team for their incredible 33-13 win over Canada in the Rugby World Cup.
Our tribute to them now sits proudly on the side of Intercity Express Train 800316, as it completes its maiden voyage from London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads, celebrating a golden year of women’s sport in England.

To everyone who helps me and the hedgehogs by retweeting life saving information, or championing the hospital either by word or by deed, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all your loving support.❤️
I am awestruck by the goodness and generosity that I see on a daily basis, both from donations towards the cost of medicines, and supplies from my Amazon wishlist.
Not only do these contributions provide practical help to keep the hospital running, this proof of incredible human kindness - this bright shining hope in a world that can often seem darkening - does all our hearts so much good, too.🥰

Animal abuse takes many forms.
Yesterday I had a phone call from someone who had taken in a hedgehog seen dragging a leg, and who was now having problems breathing.
The word 'now' caught my attention, so I asked when he was found.
3 weeks ago, she said.
Then hurried to assure me he'd been kept warm and safe and fed, in a cage.
3 weeks.
Twenty one days suffering the agony of a broken leg, and denied pain relief.
Twenty one days of bearing the torment of internal parasites, and the distress and panic of feeling his lungs gradually fill with fluid, and each breath being more and more of a struggle.
Added to this suffering, and exacerbating it; the panic and endless fear of being handled and kept in captivity - a wild animal's most stressful punishment.
And this poor gentle little hedgehog had been bearing this hell silently, every hour of every day, for three weeks.
Everyone knows how little legal protection our wildlife have, but the fact that keeping a wild animal captive like this, denying him medical attention, is liable on summary conviction to six months' imprisonment and an unlimited fine, shows you just how cruel and serious a crime this is.
Yet I hear versions of this story every week.
Sometimes the caller is unaware they are doing wrong, and have genuinely convinced themselves they are being kind.
Some know they are wrong, but absolve themselves with the excuse their local rescue was full.
Some, like this caller, know what they are doing, but choose not to think about that. It's only when the novelty of their victim's cuteness wears off, or the smell from the poor infected animal gets too strong, that they call.
So if you know of someone who has taken a hedgehog in and is keeping him, and hasn't taken him to a rescue, please do whatever you can to convince them to do the right thing.
And please have no doubt, no matter what you read elsewhere, any hedgehog out in the day is seriously ill and needs urgent attention from a rescue.
And any hedgehog limping is in agony, and needs urgent attention.
It is NEVER okay to take in and just keep ANY wild animal, and certainly not a hedgehog.
ALWAYS take them to a good rescue first.
I couldn't convince this caller to tell me where they were, other than 'the Hampshire and Surrey borders', but I gave them the details of a place where they could surrender him to, no questions asked. I can only hope they do the right thing and finally get this poor little soul relief from his pain and torment.

If Keir Starmer had said before the election that he would remove the winter fuel allowance from millions of pensioners, give away £millions of money to overseas net zero and farming projects while hammering UK family farmers with inheritance tax, council tax & energy price increases, raise university tuition fees, plaster mass-scale solar panels on thousands of acres of prime farmland despite huge local community objections, spaff £22bn of taxpayers’ money on carbon capture machines, give £3bn a year of taxpayers’ money to Ukraine and ratchet up hawkish warmongering rhetoric, pledge a 20% cut in meat & dairy and get exposed for receiving over £100,000 worth of freebies - he almost certainly wouldn’t have won. He duped the electorate. An utterly shameless display of snake oil political salesmanship. And still he lectures all of us in that gratingly sanctimonious manner of his like we are all somehow the problem here.
I never cared what colour you were, until you started blaming me for your problems.
I never cared if you were gay, until you started shoving it down my throat.
I never cared about your political views, until you started condemning me for mine.
I never cared where you were born, until you wanted to erase my culture and history.
I never cared if your beliefs were different to mine, until you said my beliefs were wrong.
I do care that my patience and tolerance have been pushed to the limit and I know that I'm not alone!
I'M SO COLD........
I ask you @Keir_Starmer how do you think that makes me feel hearing my 90 year old neighbour saying that?
She came to her front door with a blanket wrapped around her.
I MADE her put the heating on - whether she leaves it on I have no idea.
This is what YOU have done to our elderly.
The illegals in hotels have no such worry do they!
WHERE ARE THE HUMAN RIGHTS FOR OUR OWN??
