Vodafone Portugal is preparing to be the first operator to bring mobile satellite connections to Portugal, in partnership with Satellite Connect Europe, the joint venture between AST SpaceMobile and the Vodafone Group.

Direct to Device (D2D) technology will allow you to make calls, send SMS and access data on your smartphone, even in more remote areas, which the terrestrial network may not reach. No antennas, no special equipment and no expensive satellite phones.

This new technology does not replace our network, but rather complements it, so that no one is left without service, even in emergency situations. After regulatory authorizations, the service is expected to be available by the end of 2027.
