As I've been away from Twitter, I've realized I've never shared my exciting news...

I'm pursuing a MS at @UMaine!

I'm currently studying birds as ecological indicators for different forest management activities in Maine.

I also set up Song Meter Minis to collect more data and am currently experimenting with them to assess their use in forest bird surveys going forward.

On my second to last day of work in Florida and searching for this nest specifically for almost a week...I finally found it today! My first Florida Grasshopper Sparrow nest I found on my own.
Good luck little ones. I'll be rooting for this nest a thousand miles away.

Excited to share I will be at #AOS24! This is the first science conference I have ever been to, aside from one day events, and I'm presenting a poster! I am super excited to get to learn more, meet new people, and do some birding in Colorado.

I have some exciting news to share in these upcoming weeks. I'm leaving Florida early to pursue an incredible opportunity back in Maine!
While I've enjoyed the birds of Florida, I am excited to get to work with the forests and songbirds of the northeast again.

Last night, I had the opportunity to participate in a Florida Bonneted Bat emergence survey! They're an endangered species endemic to Florida.
You can see the bat poke their face out of the hole before jumping out and another one take their place. 🦇

Checked in on a Florida Grasshopper Sparrow nest and had four little faces looks right back up to me!

These four nestlings are at least 7 days old, meaning they may fledge any day now. They grow quite fast!
