@DaveWi11is Noiser have done a good job with the podcast 👍🏻. We could see into the cockpit from the cabin - no ladder required! That looks so different but not surprising after 50+ years of development; like comparing a Cessna to an Airbus.
On 4th March 1972 my brother Tim and I were onboard the fateful SR.N6 hovercraft service that day from the Isle of Wight. This new podcast from Noiser Ltd dramatises our experience. https://t.co/Jk3gQ6BVDk
@Bert_Plumswang When launched HMS M2 had a 12-inch gun turret like her sister vessels, but this was removed and replaced with the hangar for the seaplane.
As it reaches nearly 10 years since publication, it’s great to hear that gamers are still discovering #TheyComeUnseen by @OspreyGames and enjoying it, and perhaps picking up something about #submarine ops along the way #DBF#tabletopgaming#BGG
@TheyComeUnseen First “learning” game last night…having watched a couple of videos on BGG much easier to learn than expected…very challenging though - those mines are deadly. Actually, everything is deadly! Smashing game.
@dooger1967@TheyComeUnseen Thanks for the post; glad you’re enjoying TCU! To add more destruction, try the ‘Torpedo Attack’ rule. It only took about 50 years to appear after I had thought it would be impossible to achieve (rule detail at the TCU website). TCU’s development has been famously slow!
A little late afternoon 🎸noodle using the latest excellent addition to my BOSS pedalboard: the BOSS RV-6 Reverb pedal in the ‘Modulate’ position. #ANDERTONSMADEMEDOIT
@NavyLookout I was the Sonar Officer & a watch leader for this op: Agile Eagle. We were all pretty new to the brave new world of towed arrays so Richard Farnfield’s achievement was all the more impressive, & yet he was the most modest of men. A great leader & outstanding submariner. RIP.
Excellent book @IBallantyn
Staggering resourcefulness, determination & bravery. I can’t imagine being so inured to death and to the chance of dying while trying to function amid the chaos and fog of war on land. Heroes all. #Arnhem#WW2#LestWeForget
HMS Finwhale (S05) at anchor off Pulau Aur in early 1970. She was part of the 7th Submarine Squadron based in Singapore at the submarine depot ship HMS Forth. I was attached to her in my Midshipman year. My current Bluesky account profile photograph “@perisher80.bsky.social”
@benmassey3 Haha. Yes, I think I can confirm that. Seems I could function better without any 3-year olds plus around - and when I was 40+ years younger!
@benmassey3 Looks like I deleted my reply and your response to that reply which I didn’t know was possible. Moral: don’t let a 3 year old distract you!
