It’s fine to eat the popcorn that rises above the top of the bag before the movie starts, that’s the Baron’s Delight. But you must be weary of digging too greedily into the popcorn inside the bag before the previews even end, that is the Duke’s Lament
I hate that LEGO is one step shy of being Funko Pops now, concentrating so heavily on licensed pop culture properties aimed at adults, instead of original "generic" themes to stir the imagination of children. But I guess I'm old and this kinda stuff just doesn't sell anymore.
@Swampist@JohnMjustwinBB Only one army has ever marched across America’s soil, capturing its citizens, and sending them into slavery in chains. Want to guess who led that army?
@Will_Tanner_1 If America is just an aristocracy where your daddy being a very important man grants you special importance, why did we bother with the revolution he was so proud of his ancestors for fighting?
@allEckwitty@dieworkwear That makes sense. I’m saving for one some day and happy to hear the quality is still high. Though I’d argue that the price of Frank Clegg bags compared to other luxury goods (watches, shoes, etc.) is actually very reasonable.
@reggiebblue Madison led troops in the field while president and Lincoln was within rifle range of Confederate troops during Early’s raid on Washington.
@Jackson90771@porterstansb@johnsmith3433@jlmotley Yes. That’s the whole basis of representative government. The question of how we don’t decide to live in the country we’re born in is mildly fascinating but I struggle to imagine a system where every citizen has to affirmatively elect to accept all the nation’s laws.
@Jackson90771@porterstansb@johnsmith3433@jlmotley I’ll admit I only skimmed this, but Spooner seems laughable. It boils down to “I don’t have to follow laws that were created in the past.” That’s an insane, unworkable system of government.
@Jackson90771@porterstansb@johnsmith3433@jlmotley That doesn’t mean that laws are just optional. A nation where each state can leave for any reason is no nation at all. Secessionists were actually rebelling against the idea of consent of the governed. That consent is a collective consent.
@Jackson90771@porterstansb@johnsmith3433@jlmotley So the only way to leave the Inited States is revolution. That’s what secession was. And revolutions are judged by history on their merits. Some look bad and some look good. Revolting to keep slaves looks bad.
