I've moved over from esq social (which was a great place!) to the https://t.co/NETJ0SUP2j community that @n8foo created, and so far I love the local experience. That was what I enjoyed about twitter anyway.
@Irizaurus@andywildman@UrbanEastNash Not just annoying, but dangerous. I have requested that the speed limit be lowered on Old Harding Pike, a narrow 2-lane residential road where I was hit by a car, and was told it was a "collector" and so the speed limit would not be changed. (I haven't given up on that, BTW.)
How does @MetroSchools build a brand new campus without a single sidewalk that I can see? Are there plans to at least let kids living across the street have a safe way to walk to school, @myTDOT ? @SafeRoutesNow@americawalks@walkbikenash

@UrbanEastNash I can live with this, although I'd be okay with reducing the size of the corner zone if the streets were slower, especially if there were raised crosswalks. But corner visibility is nice for people biking and walking too.
@UrbanEastNash True. But it didn't make sense then, it doesn't add up now, and they might as well read it for the next time private interests coming knocking, because we were such a pushover, there WILL be a next time. Nashville revealed itself to be an easy mark.
@UrbanEastNash Strong Towns for the Budget and Finance Committee. Also recommend Big Box Swindle and the St. Louis Fed's report The Economics of Subsidizing Sports Stadiums.

@anitawadhwani@TNLookout We absolutely regulate the sale and consumption of alcohol, particularly with driving.
And if Rep. Ragan is suggesting we regulate high-speed vehicles, in light of the role speed plays in many of the 40,000+ road deaths in America last year, then I'm all ears.
When the @MetroSchools bus comes early, causing your teenagers miss the bus, and you have to wait in a 30 minute line to drop them off at @JamesLawsonHigh. (Photo taken on Hwy 70S at I-40 by my passenger!)
Happy first day of school, everyone!
I flew to D.C. yesterday morning, and it took 1 hr 52 min to get to BNA via @WeGoTransit with a long wait for the 18.
Despite only running hourly, the 18 was full of people who live and work along Elm Hill Pike. That route deserves better service.
@woo_ten@mtnpassiknow Gotcha. And of course, we're only talking about the Urban Services District, because the rest of the county doesn't get municipal trash pick-up at all, they just hire private services.
Hey #Nashville people - interested in getting off this hellsite to a better place? Check out https://t.co/9oJNfmsamM - a mastodon instance just for Nashville citizens and related accounts...run by your favorite local ex-Twitter engineer. :-) DM me for an invite or just sign up!
@toxicofriendron @WeGoTransit For regular riders, I think it will work fine, most already use QuickTicket or an ID pass. For new riders, tourists, visitors, occasional riders, or attendees to special events, it could be a barrier to adoption. WeGo promises the cards will be available at hundreds of locations.
