We’re out measuring the river flow on the River Calder and River Aire this morning, pictures are from Methley Bridge just outside Castleford. Understanding river flows help us better #warn & #inform in the future.
Levels are still high in many parts of the country. Hydrometry teams are out capturing vital data used for flood warning and mitigation measures.
In Warwick on the R.Avon the remote boat measured 114m3/s at the peak.
Keep up to date with local levels -https://t.co/KaoUpzSAxh
Great to hear more about the good work being conducted by @UK_CEH using the @hrwallingford#ARCboat. We don’t always get to hear about the actual work with which the ARCboat is involved in with the end-user so this is always nice to see.

Thank you very much for the hospitality shown by Survey-Engineer InterTech and the Royal Thai Navy during recent #ARCboat training in Bangkok. The boat performed well on the Chao Phraya River equipped with #CEEHydroSystems CEEScope Lite and #Dynautics E-Boat E autonomous control.
A bit of remote boat action at Polson In Cornwall area during an ADCP training session with one of our suppliers🚤
Deploying ADCP devices in remote boats enables us to capture critical flow data in all conditions in places that are inaccessible on foot.

Here's some great footage of an HR Wallingford manufactured ARCboat working hard for @DOWLengineers in Alaska. Look how stable it is, even in these fast flows.
ARCboats are remote-controlled survey vessels used to deploy a wide range of instruments.

Local hydrometry teams are out using the remote ARC boat in West Midlands area today on the River Trent in Burton, resulting in the largest ever measured instantaneous flow in WMD-East with 365m3/s.
This high flow data will help build and corroborate flood flow models.
As the River Trent becomes tidal at Cromwell, we deployed the @EnvAgencyMids@ARCboat & @SonTek_Xylem M9 to measure flood peak as it reached #Newark this afternoon.
Great to be out on the river with the @ARCboat. Training with @SwanseaUni and measuring flow (what there was anyway!) with a @NortekNews Signature 1000 ADCP.
Water quality sensors on my @UK_CEH#ARCboat! A YSI EXO and a spectrometer plus depth sounder…!
For @NERCscience Greenhouse Gas Aqua project.
Too busy driving to get an action video, but all seemed to work…!
Huge potential for mapping water quality & pollution as well as GHG
@ArnoudCuppens@ARCboat@EnvAgencyMids This looks to me like an experienced operator manually driving the boat. I find autopilots are great running grids but transects are better done manually to cope with shearing effect of water of different velocity, especially at those speeds!
River Derwent peaking at #Matlock Bath this morning at 220 tonnes per second. The Highest flow we have measured here. @EnvAgencyMids Flood warnings in force as the peak travels towards #Derby#Derbyshire
