📌 Conclusion
Across a large heterogeneous cohort:
- V̇O₂max + economy explain ~95% of performance variance
- Fractional utilisation has limited discriminative power
- LT could be estimated somewhat accurately from LTP

@brady_h@JohnAllenBain I think it’s safe to say 5 mins in hot bath and 15 mins in sauna with aveHR of 72 wouldn’t be too much of a “stressor”, you’d need to stay in there for a little longer for that!
@brady_h I also think Hyrox doesn’t really have a true strength component to it, sled maybe but I would consider hyrox quite endurance focused. If you’re a good runner and lift a little you’ll probably do pretty well
@brady_h I’d say those expectations are a little high… @brady_h - that’s akin to saying you can’t call yourself a runner (which is a type of athlete) unless you’re within a certain percentile. When people say hybrid, they just mean they care equally about endurance and strength/size
@brady_h@brady_h I think you have a summarised the wrong review - this info is not from our recent review.
We did not model thermal
Impulse, exercise intensity or compare to passive heat acclimation…
We would be happy to help you draft a summary of our key findings @DrJPeriard

Incredibly happy to see this review from @Petermc8's PhD published in Comprehensive Physiology...with an online heat acclimation predictor!

@Nyborger_Nybo@DrJPeriard @_HarryBrown2 @UC_RISE@EnvPhysiolLab For sure - And beyond 5 weeks we don’t know. would be good to see an even longer timeline! Would also be interesting to know the minimum dose required to maintain beyond 3-5 weeks
@Nyborger_Nybo@DrJPeriard @_HarryBrown2 @UC_RISE@EnvPhysiolLab Thanks @Nyborger_Nybo and yep studies using thermal clothing could not be included as they did not have an ambient temperature or humidity for our models. Would have been great to have more data in the HBmass model especially longer studies >3 weeks
Finally got around to incorporating all Github feedback on my open access textbook, making around 20 minor improvements, and updating some references. 17 chapters of state of the art stats and methods education, freely available for any course you teach. https://t.co/FdQIS63fVd
🚨Heat Training Survey🚨
Massive thanks to @CASESsocial for putting the word out regarding my PhD survey!
If you’re a practitioner prescribing heat training for national to elite level athletes, we’d love to hear from you! 🔥🏃♂️🏆
Please share to get the word out 🙏👇
@Kevin_John08 @mt_topham @audreysharwood1 That might explain why @mt_topham gradually lost the plot with each cup of tea he drank….Coincidence or correlation?
Home stretch for @Petermc8 presenting his pre-submission seminar on the influence of heat acclimation protocol characteristics on the adaptive response!
