Kids today are facing an increase in stressors - due to this one of the groups we do with the kids at work is talking about healthy stressors vs. unhealthy stressors. It’s very helpful in identifying coping skills and ways to combat these stressors! #506foundations
Fact: Kids are more stressed than ever before. Myth: All stress is bad. Listen to New York Times bestselling author Lisa Damour and I talk about what kids and adults can learn from being under pressure Part 1: https://t.co/W46JJDTo5N
@allisonc3t Thank you so much for posting this, I didn’t even know this existed but I’m now looking up all kinds of alternative articles about this topic. So cool! ♥️ #506foundations
@lonnadippel Very similar to the Ted Talk about embracing vulnerability we listened to this semester, honestly such an important message and it really makes you introspect about your own life and experiences and how you deal with them! #506foundations
@lonnadippel@allisonc3t We watch Inside Out at my work with the kids all the time! Such a great movie about emotional regulation and different emotions/problems children face, plus it’s just a super cute movie! #506foundations
@allisonc3t It’s definitely a feel good movie, but as we all know trying to use relationships to distract us or to repair our mental health often times either fails or worsens it #506foundations
@allisonc3t I LOVE Silver Linings Playbook, but I disagree in that I don’t feel it depicts mental illness correctly. The main character has a range of issues, including bipolar disorder, & I feel the movie has that “a pretty girl will solve all your problems” mentality #506foundations
@AvinAnvaripour Agreed. Far too often we solely focus on the individual with the disorder and forget about the other affected parties. More programs need to be in place to help these populations! #506foundations
@Bailey46091889 As someone who has worked evenings/nights my entire life, I can completely relate to this! As Melinda had said, sometimes this can negatively impact your health, both mentally and physically #506foundations
@alison_sieg I love this! It’s so important to keep context in mind when interacting with people. Everyone is fighting their own battles - we only see a small window of their lives, and it isn’t our place to judge! If everyone held this view the world would be much different #506foundations
@AvinAnvaripour Very informative! Mental health is so important, in order to truly work towards helping those struggling with suicidal ideation, empathizing with them and recognizing the importance of those thoughts is imperative, rather than pretending the problem doesn’t exist! #506foundations
@kristynsummer Interesting read! Increasing time spent with clients by 60% sounds like this implementation could be very beneficial. The article says it’s “at no additional cost to the system” so I’m curious as to where the funding is coming from! #506foundations
Saw this on Facebook today and thought I’d share, I really got a lot out of it and I figured it’d be useful information! #506foundations
