Dr. Yang will stay @WashUDerm as a physician-scientist faculty and post-doc in @itchdoctor lab. She presented her ongoing work looking at innate vs adaptive immune regulation in skin diseases. #sciencetwitter#immunesystem
I'm truly thankful for the amazing training at @WashUDerm and for the best co-residents one could ask for. So excited for our futures! Here's for finally (but not really) being finished with training! 🐙🥳 Psyched to continue research with Dr. Kim @itchdoctor!!
We are so very proud of all of our graduating residents, and know they will contribute in meaningful ways to #dermatology, caring for patients, teaching and mentoring trainees, and making new discoveries. We wish you all the best in your future! #dermtwitter#MedEd
Tomorrow at 11am ET, tune in to the @ISMRM MRE virtual study session to hear Matt McGarry talk about the exciting world of MRE inversion validation, followed by @LediaLilaj talking about tofu and brains! Also see Matt's 3-months-of-quarantine no-haircut!!!

Congrats to the Diamond Lab @WUSTLmed and @TheBcellArtist @MJHoltzmanlab on their #COVID19 paper in @CellCellPress looks like a great way to quickly test neutralizing antibodies that are on the way!

Earlier in the week, I learned that #sciencetwitter was inspired by a graphical display of allyship designed by @SammyKatta. Today, you can download a #InThisLabWeBelieve poster for your worm, fly, mouse, genetics, or cell biology lab. https://t.co/AZiG3ZHTzW
Looking to help improve diversity in academic medicine? Invite black speakers to give talks, not about diversity, but about their area of interest. Invite them to named lectureships, ask them to serve on scientific panels, etc. help promote and retain black faculty in academics.
My lab today will #Strike4BlackLives. No business as usual. Today will be the beginning of our effort to dismantle anti-black racism and promote anti-racism in academia and STEM by supporting, learning, unlearning, and protesting. #ShutDownSTEM#ShutDownAcademia#BlackLivesMatter
Academia must take this day to recognise systematic anti-Black racial discrimination that exist. Access to STEM is still lagging for Black people. The ongoing BLM movement urges ethical reform in every industry. The time is NOW! #ShutDownSTEM#Strike4BlackLives#ShutDownAcademia
Experimentation went on for years, and it was only shut down in 1973 after the aftermath of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study #WeMustBeBetter#Science#dermtwitter
Dermatology also has a troubled past, with Retin-A literally born off the backs of predominantly Black prisoners in Philly #ShutDownSTEM#ShutDownAcademia https://t.co/J48D0ogav3
Prof. Matthew McGarry co-authored a paper on the hippocampus' essential #memory functions and found that viscoelasticity measured with magnetic resonance elastography is a promising tool for future #aging studies. JoCN has the details: https://t.co/9XowDwOxFf
The bottom line is #academia is top down so #diversity has to be executed that way, not bottom up. IMO a homogeneous group of leaders simply can execute genuine policies on this. Diversity needs to move beyond the “pilot and feasibility phase” and if institutions are serious
