This summer I officially graduated with my PhD, closing a chapter that began in 2019. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who lifted my spirits through the highs and lows, and glad I gave that support in return. Look out for more on the projects I’m working on soon!
Immensely proud to tell you all my first paper of my PhD is out in Nature Medicine now! We wanted to know if the immune response to COVID-19 was distinct in an African cohort (spoiler alert: our data suggest it is!) Give it a read! https://t.co/zcp8WmBqKg
Great news ... but a stable model has to be found ... and I don't feel that we should give @NIAIDFunding a free pass on this. I am still puzzled that one would cut funding to something we urgently need and replace it with something few of us have asked for or need for.
Congratulations to Dr. Laidlaw (@Ross_IgE) who passed his PhD defence! I’m losing my partner in crime to his post-doc at @LUMC_Leiden so please join me in wishing him the best of luck. Thank you Ross for everything! 🥳 N.B Thanks @plantblonde on Insta for the amazing vegan cake!
It took more than a DECADE... but finally it’s published!!! It started as a CRAZY idea but after tons of hard work we built it: We hijacked the endogenous secretion systems of Toxoplasma gondii, a brain parasite, to deliver active proteins to neurons 👇

With @OdedRechavi@shaharbrr and colleagues we present the revolutionary idea of using brain parasites as brain therapy delivery vehicles and demonstrate the feasibility of the first few steps.

You may have heard of viral vectors for medicinal delivery, but how about 🧠 parasite vectors?
I'm delighted and grateful to have played a part in such an exciting story pioneered by Dr Shahar Bracha and colleagues.
Was an amazing day yesterday celebrating graduation day @AberDLSAGB Well done @PomWititkornkul and @SGrinsell on your successes...@Hnorthcote3 your next! Couldn't resist a selfie with @IainBarber on the steps!
Hello, fellow researchers,

Yay! Our preprint on affordable super-resolution tool for #Toxoplasma chronic stage is out!
Leveraging #ExM to explore cysts wasn't easy, and I'm excited about the possibilities this opens up for Toxo parasitologists.

@KesKeseno joined my lab determined to expand the #toxoplasma cyst - after a couple of years of hard work she cracked it! Hope this preprint is useful….

I’m also very grateful for the contribution of all our collaborators and I look forward to sharing more of our work in the near future. With the PhD over, as for what comes next, I’d say stay tuned!

Delighted to announce I’ve passed my PhD viva! It’s been a challenging four and a half years which will come as a surprise to few, however there is nothing to regret.

I’m ever thankful for the faith of my lecturers in Aberystwyth who supported me in my application back in 2019, and to my PhD supervisor and thesis committee for their guidance.
