@LRubinsonWFAN According to Spurs fans, this wouldn’t be a foul because Alvarado may have done something earlier in the game against Wemby that they didn’t like.
According to them Wemby can do no wrong and it’s the NBA’s fault for not calling fouls on Wemby defenders.
For all the parents out there dealing with a decision... let me give you another perspective
In 2018 my wife and I went in for our 20? week ultra sound at Beth Israel in Boston... the rep was very quiet the whole time, something seemed off. My wife & I were first time parents... didn't have much context. The doctor pulled us into her office and told us our sons nuchal fold was abnormally large... she went on to say there is a significant increased chance of Down Syndrome and even Turner's syndrome... talked about options to terminate the pregnancy. My wife was inconsolable, rightly so ... even thinking about it now brings back a lot of heavy emotions because of how hard of a day it was... hard...
I did a lot of research on the topic ... my wife & I prayed non stop about it. All we could do. The doctors wanted to do an amniocentesis which has its own host of risks..run more tests...
We came to the conclusion, which was not easy... it didn't matter... no amnio, no more tests.... I felt in my soul the Lord's plan was perfect and if our son was going to have Down Syndrome we would love him and shepherd him through this world the best we could. We get what we get. Anything from the Lord was a BLESSING and I was not going to point my finger at Him
Fast forward to today... our son is going to be 8 in the fall. He is perfect. Just hit a homerun the other day... a much better baseball player than I was at his age. My best friend
I share this deeply personal story for nothing more than to give just ONE parent hope... the Lord's plan is perfect... stay the course
@MarkHuber01@RogueUmpire I try to arrive 20 minutes early for league play, get my gear on, and walk on the field about 5-7 minutes early.
For a HS game I arrive at least 30 minutes before first pitch, put my gear on, and be on the field 10-15 minutes before first pitch.
@RLstaxwell@RogueUmpire I’m assuming these are 11-13 year olds. Current going rate for rec ball is $40/game in my area.
Travel ball is $60/game for this age group.
Typical game time is 2 hours. Add in travel time and it’s under $20/hr.
@ragingaubie@CBCJakeMck I hear ya. The waters get a little muddy when the parents watch directly above the opponents dugout. LOL! 😂
Learning moment for everyone.
@ragingaubie@CBCJakeMck I’ve heard about his parents sitting by the dugout as well, but umpires wouldn’t know that.
A player should be aware of how things would look in that situation as well. Hard to think of in the moment, but he would know where they were sitting before the game.
@KokiRiley What’s fun for some is not fun for others.
Who gets to decide how much fun a player can have?
Do we have a penalty when a player has too much fun?
@TigerAlumni1982@SECUnfiltered Read some comments about a warning and I’ve been wondering if they think each kid should get a warning or the team, as a whole gets a warning?
IMO the warning is already in the rulebook. Read about it in the player conduct rules.
@ThatkidZachDaly@SECUnfiltered Team warning or does each player get to have excessive celebration warnings? Do we have to keep track of that in Game Changer?
@AnthScar@SECUnfiltered That’s fine, but know that those actions may have consequences that they don’t like either. Especially if those consequences mean an ejection and hurting your team’s chances.
@MacD4ddyP23@SECbaseball@CBCJakeMck Where do you draw the line in those situations? There isn’t a rule about specific non-sportsmanship events that are allowed so it becomes sole discretion of the umpires.
No problem w/ celebrating/showing emotion as long as it’s not targeted at your opponent - pitchers included.
@ragingaubie@CBCJakeMck Umpire here as well and I don’t have a problem with the ejection.
I do not have a problem with celebrating or showing emotion as long as you aren’t taunting your opponent.
@pds_71@sthorn_23 I know not the NCAA, but sportsmanship was a huge emphasis in NFHS this year. Leagues are starting to clamp down on showboating your opponent and I don’t at all disagree with it.
Thank you for your service.
