@BeardedBrownMa1@RenShen888 And there you go. The "right-wing". A few nasty posts & you condemn millions of people. But you demand we don't do that about a murder.
There's your problem. You condemn people who have done nothing based on a handful but expect us to behave differently.
@CaptUlation@DirkBruere@worstall Right. Because planning says you can build what you like or you can build what we say?
Are you actually this retarded?
@HopeNotHate68@worstall What does that mean? We have far fewer homes than people.
The solution is more homes.
People are begging to be allowed to spend their own money building those homes.
The stupid say they can't solve a big problem that disproportionately affects the young because...stuff.
@mattyglesias The world's most easily solvable problem of any kind.
We have people absolutely begging to be allowed to solve the problem at their own cost/risk.
@ColonelShotover@LibDems@LibDemMedia@libdemdaisy Focusing just on cost though is wrong. If we had had just 0.5% more growth each year for the last 20 years, we would be over 10% wealthier. 1% & we would be over 20% wealthier.
The Netherlands also has its Henry Nowak cases.
In July 2020, 14-year-old Tamar from Marken was hit by a car on a dark dike road and left to die. Her body was later found in the berm.
What happened next is deeply disturbing.
The police initially told her mother that the driver was German. Days later the truth came out: it was four Iraqis in the car. The mother was told they withheld the real background because they didnโt want to create a "Wilders-effect" โ they didnโt want to give Geert Wilders political ammunition.
Even worse: evidence strongly suggests Tamarโs body was moved after the accident. The driver didnโt just flee, they dragged her off the road and left her there like an animal.
The driver received only a โฌ1,500 fine for looking at his phone while driving. He then disappeared completely. The fine was returned โundeliverableโ and for years he was untraceable.
Only after years of fighting by the family (including going to court to force prosecution), a breakthrough came in March 2026: the now 33-year old Jamal is finally being prosecuted for causing the fatal accident and leaving the scene.
Just like Henry Nowak in Southampton โ an innocent young person dies, authorities seem more focused on protecting a narrative and avoiding โpolitical incorrectnessโ than on delivering swift justice.
A 14-year-old girl dies on a Dutch dike. The system lies about the identity of the driver, gives him a slap on the wrist, loses him for years, and only after massive pressure does real prosecution begin.
This is not just a traffic accident. This is a story about truth, accountability, and what happens when institutions put ideology before grieving families.
Her name was Tamar.
She was 14.
She deserved better.

@nmrqip@aDissentient People who attempt to restrict or curtail free speech & discourse should be thrown out of places that should be absolute defenders of free speech & discourse.
@amoremOccidntis@maxtempers And he ignored pensions.
And the basic comparison is simply wrong: share values are FUTURE income. They are essentially future potential dividends. So he uses my future income vs your current assets.
@rcolvile It's an absolutely stupid strategy because we actually want all those businesses to be destroyed & replaced by better ones. Kodak destroyed by digital, Blackberry by Apple, dial-up by fibre, Blockbuster by Netflix.
The better replaces the not as good. Try that with state shares
@mockerymage@rcolvile No, gas sets the wholesale marginal price. And before we had more expensive renewables & carbon taxes, that worked fine.
You are whining about what has changed, moron.
@julesw1lko@rcolvile Gibberish. There is vast amount of business lending in the UK. If a business doesn't make a profit it cannot repay equity & debt.
Ignorant stupidity.
@AnsellEade@rcolvile Absolute nonsense & total ignorance of wealth funds. Proper wealth funds exist to avoid Dutch Disease & are explicitly banned from investing domestically.
There used to be plenty of investment in the UK. Now there isn't, because investing doesn't produce returns.
@EricSmi92780239@rcolvile That is literally mad.
The state is low productivity & very low productivity growth.
That's why we have low productivity & low productivity growth.
