Discernment is at its best when pointed inward more than outward. Discernment done right, has the integrity to deal with logs before splinters. It has a gentle yet firm touch when splinter picking; its about mending souls, not stooping to undignified gossip, slander, & mockery.
The hardest thing for me to stomach is inconsistency; so when someone is being accused of twisting scripture & their words are being twisted in order to prove it, I admit, I get fired up.
Just be honest. If your discernment has a leg to stand on, it need no help from deception.
I’ve observed that the gift of discernment can lead to an almost addictive need to find fault in others, if not carefully and prayerfully led by the Spirit as a guide. I’ve also seen it used correctly as well, and it is a most beautiful asset to the Body of Christ.

@EddieHorn@nolagirl1978@BethMooreLPM There is more than one way to do so and it’s still biblical, though it may be hard to understand that.
No, and I doubt that any believer does. But, the truth is one size does not fit all in approach. Some need to hear of God’s mercy. I am such a one.
@EddieHorn @choquette_l @BethMooreLPM @melissa_cran Are you saying that Jesus doesn’t love the sinner? That He didn’t come to set the sinner free?
Jesus preached constantly that He was the way to the Father, how to love one another, & showed that He was willing to associate with the rejected & unloved. are you saying differently?
@EddieHorn @choquette_l @BethMooreLPM @melissa_cran I said your conclusionwasnt true.
She doesn’t teach that you can stay in sin. She teaches of the hope and absolute love of Christ who is able to set the sinner free.
@EddieHorn @melissa_cran @BethMooreLPM Yes, but for some, it’s a slooooow process. I’m so immeasurably glad that God is so much more patient and kind than many of His kids.
@EddieHorn@nolagirl1978@BethMooreLPM She may not do it in the way that you’d like it done, that doesn’t mean she is not. Some are sewers and others harvest.
You keep speaking for her, as if you know her heart and all her ways, that’s not okay. It’s immature, high-minded and lacking in grace.
@JtwoB@Noah1127@BethMooreLPM You said “One can be tempted with SSA and choose not to give in or one can be tempted and choose to give in.” Yay! That is what the poster in question is saying he is doing by being celibate!
@JtwoB@Noah1127@BethMooreLPM I used to think it was a choice too. Now I don’t. It’s just another “thorn” in the flesh, but God’s grace is sufficient, and in our weaknesses, His strength is made perfect. It’s beautifully played out in a life who’s struggle means a life of celibacy.
