“It is of more importance to the Lord that a man acknowledge and confess his sickness and cry for help in his heart than with this tongue, for the tongue is capable of deception, but the heart is not.” — St. Nikolai Velimirovich
@Abunajohn The point is not lost on me — it’s simply irrelevant. As others have pointed out, we have a plethora of lay saints from the past 200 years, not to mention the countless ones which we, because of our weakness, are unaware of.
@Abunajohn I’m sorry, but what part of Carlo Acutis’ life exemplifies what being a Christian is in this modern age?
There are far better examples to point to, but if you want to insist that we don’t have lay saints like Acutis — you’re right, we don’t have any one who has required that we-
@KalebAtlanta@GermanCarranza3 And yet there is still a voluntary swearing by God that occurs here, showing that He subjects Himself, not that He is subjected.
@serentti@AngloVarangian It’s not a question we have to answer with anything other than, “We believe God saves whosoever He wills, and listens to the Church’s constant prayers for the unbaptized, especially infants.”

@OpStCyprian -absolutely nothing in this regard, which seems untenable if the Church is supposed to be the safeguard of the Scripture’s meaning/interpretation.
@OpStCyprian Today’s scholars have a fundamental lack of understanding because they do not speak Koine Greek, or have any first-hand access to the Judeo-Hellenic lens which inspired the Scriptures.
The second point is only partially true if you account the Church as having communicated-
