Delhi: On the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Sandeep Poundrik says, "AI is important for all departments, but it is especially crucial in the steel sector because steel is a growing industry..."
The Ministry of Steel organized an impactful AI Workshop and Interactive Session at the #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026. More than 100 startups participated to understand the Steel value chain and the opportunities there in. Secretary (Steel) also visited AI stalls and engaged with innovators to explore real- world AI solutions for efficiency, sustainability and safety across the steel sector.

Sandeep Poundrik, Secretary of the Ministry of Steel says that it is necessary for steel sector to use AI.
Talking to Akashvani News at #IndiaAIImpactSummit in New Delhi, Mr Pondrik says that India is the second largest producer of steel in the world and therefore it is essential to use artificial intelligence in every possible way to become fully competitive in the world.
He notes that the summit is very important in this regard, and the steel sector is looking at how to adopt and use their solutions.

Ministry of Steel signs MoUs for 85 projects with investments of more than Rs 11,000 crore in New Delhi.
The Ministry said that #MoUs have been signed with 55 companies under the third round of Production-Linked Incentive (#PLI) Scheme 1.2.
Addressing the gathering after the MoU signing ceremony, Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy underscored that PLI 1.2 is a decisive step towards building a resilient and globally competitive specialty steel ecosystem.
