Our initial reaction to the #picardyplace decision - disappointing, but Greens will continue to push for junction improvements & argue for a city centre for people, not cars.
@CllrChasBooth What is also disappointing was the overall lack of concern for represetatiion of local views. Council only follow own institutional interests. Most councillors answer to congestion, keep it away from my streets.
Summary from @theSpurtle Un-identified speaker was Ben Palmer from Open who had done some "place" designs and pictures as per the Report Appendix. https://t.co/4G5kdwfVvI
#PicardyPlace - lost round 1, though still some tweaking to do. Transport and Environment Committee decided to go ahead with the proposed gyratory 9 votes versus 2 from the Greens. Round 2 becomes part of City Transformation & will test how flexible the design really is.

#PicardyPlace@NTBCC Response "CEC must now take time to consider and respond to the many questions raised by local residents and other interest groups, rather than press ahead with a scheme which few are convinced is the best that can be achieved." https://t.co/mpga6Wk2K4
@peterbrownbarra@DrCarolineBrown Locals residents would prefer continuous space in front of the Cathedral - it's far more of a pedestrian desire area than the Omni/Playhouse and a gateway to ESJ. Also space around the periphery rather than in the centre beside traffic. Can it be adapted?
Please support Spokes objections to the proposed changes to Leith Street. They fall a long way short of council commitments to people and cycling-friendly developments. Cycle lanes ending at shared space. No cycle-specific crossings. No cycleway at top of st. https://t.co/AvGO2GjRHR
