It snowed thrice in my 4 hrs at the Serta Larung Five Science Academy. Located in the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, “Larung Gar” is the world’s largest school of Tibetan Buddhism. The 40,000 nuns & monks here reside in dormitories built on hillsides.
Block printing in action at Derge Parkhang (Dege Sutra Printing Press; 徳格印經院) in Sichuan. The 18th century, press houses the world’s largest collection of Tibetan handcarved printing blocks. The dim, maze-like place brings to mind the works of Jin Yong, Eco and Borges.

Military tourism in Taiwan: a former defensive tunnel is being used for boat-rides. The mannequins are supposed to represent the soldiers who built the 700m-long tunnel during the Cold War. Whoever designed their look must have taken inspiration from Ken and Barbie.
