Caught on camera on the @NateForUtah commerical shoot saying abolish ICE, tax billionaires, and should have added no data centers.
Now is the time for a progressive bold future!
Let me tell you about Ben McAdams.
When he was first running for office, he called me. Not because he knew me, but because I was Black Caucus chair, and that was the only reason. I was on the phone with him and immediately texted the group chat. If you’ve ever been in an identity caucus, you know how close that community is. My community started sending me questions in real time.
The biggest one: the Crown Act.
I asked Ben McAdams about the Crown Act, discrimination against our hair, one of the most significant Black civil rights issues at the time. His response?
Please educate me.
I was dumbfounded. I spent 30 minutes on that phone call educating him.
And then he got elected to Congress. Black Caucus never heard from Ben McAdams again. The Crown Act came to a vote in his chamber in September 2020 while he was sitting in that seat. He was nowhere.
That didn’t stop us, though.
In the ten years I’ve been in Salt Lake County, Black Caucus has helped grow Black representation from one elected official to over seven. We have representation not just in Salt Lake County city councils, but in Davis County too. We have a Black Afro Latina leading the Salt Lake County Democratic Party. We have grown our representation. We have grown our power.
Ben McAdams has not grown.
Maybe he can answer a question about the Crown Act now since I just posted this. But what I do know is this: he spent two days experiencing homelessness, then turned around and championed Operation Rio Grande. Politicians sold it as a treatment program. The ACLU found the truth: 5,024 arrests, nearly 80% for misdemeanors or active warrants, and 13 arrests for every single person placed in treatment. It was a mass incarceration operation dressed up in the language of care.
He watched a mental health and addiction crisis and reached for handcuffs.
That is the Ben McAdams I know.
And that is why I will never support him.
BREAKING: The US Justice Department is seeking the names, addresses, and banking information of Reddit and X users, per Bloomberg.
The US Attorney's Office for Washington, led by Jeanine Pirro, a close ally of President Donald Trump, has subpoenaed the social media companies as part of criminal investigations, asking for personal information on at least two anonymous posters behind accounts that have chided immigration enforcement efforts.
We’re the first campaign to go up on TVs! We’ll be spreading this message to voters from now until election day, and we need your help to make sure as many people as possible hear it, can you chip in below?
50,000 people will no longer have power because of the data surveillance center in Lake Tahoe and Governor Cox told us we were dumb to push back on Utah becoming a data center state.
Our state leaders have sold our state. We must stop all projects, now!
Nearly 50,000 people in the Lake Tahoe area have been told that their utility will stop providing power to them, because it's redirecting that power to data centers.
NV Energy, the Nevada utility that has supplied most of Lake Tahoe’s electricity for decades, says that next year it will stop servicing homes in the area, and instead direct that electricity to the growing demand from Nevada data centers.
Northern Nevada is one of the fastest-growing data-center corridors in the country.

Being a Black woman elected in Utah means that Republicans and Democrats alike believe they don't have to hear me speak. In fact, my opinion and expertise is dismissed and stereotyped as angry.
And it's the same statistic statewide! 93% of Utahns say no to killing ourselves and the planet. If our state and local leaders fail to listen then they will find themselves without their title. We the people, forever & always 🇺🇸🐝#utpol
We GRAMAed the public comments about the proposed Stratos data center. Of residents of Box Elder County, 242 were against, with just seven in favor. Of those in Utah overall, it was approximately 93.5% against, 0.6% in favor.

This is liberal fascism. Letting conservatives dominate the political landscape, rewarding them for it by uselessly courting conservative voters, & then putting on a big liberal smile & saying “vote harder next time”
Why is the Salt Lake Police guarding the ICE facility?
The detention center is unjust and is a concentration camp. Demand @slcpd to stop involvement with ICE!
Tonight I attended a protest outside the proposed ICE detention center in SLC. What I saw is completely unacceptable. The arrests that were made were unnecessary and overly physical, and I’m disturbed that @slcpd is acting as security for this facility. My role as an elected official seemingly kept law enforcement at a distance, and they acted completely inappropriately when they thought they could get away with it. We need to abolish ICE, keep this facility from ever opening, and protect the American right to protest without being unjustly targeted for exercising the First Amendment.
There’s a couple more minutes of video, but in order to protect identities I won’t be releasing it without editing.
