@econJaredB This is the thing that gets me. Under Biden wages grew faster than inflation, a story the mainstream media would not tell, even despite inflation and dealing with a global pandemic. The story should be: It could have been a lot worse.
@Noahpinion This looks about right. Wages have gone up by about a factor of 10 but the price of some cherry-picked items (college and healthcare) has skyrocketed. Other things (cars and houses) have risen by about the same order of magnitude.
@RachelBitecofer Sad to say I entered the US on a visitors visa and then got married and stayed. Legally I broke the rules so even though this was 30 years ago I am eligible to be deported. Luckily im the correct color and that’s all you need to know about Trumps immigration policy.
@jmarshall_cfa@DeanBaker13 Ironically, your chart does show average weekly earnings keeping up with overall inflation, so I’m not sure what your argument is. Isn’t it contingent on you to show how people were suffering? A household bill isn’t mostly food and energy a very large proportion is rent/mortgage.
@ModeledBehavior The replies to this post are weird - FDIC couldn't stop financial crises like the Great Recession that's not what it was designed to do. FDIC protects customers so they won't clean out the bank en-masse if the bank starts getting into trouble.
@BenDempsey18@VP What are you taking about? The percentage can’t increase too far above what would be considered “full employment.” But at least it’s above the percentage just before the pandemic hit.
@NormOrnstein Pardoning Hunter Biden was the correct moral and decent thing to do. We have a Trump who says he is going to use the FBI and DOJ to go after his enemies. Hunter was already unfairly targeted for extreme punishment not befitting the crime, it was going to be worse after Jan 20th.
@keithedwards Presidents pardoning their relatives is a long tradition and history. Other presidents who pardoned relatives: Bill Clinton, Abraham Lincoln and Donald Trump.
