@MelK_Edu Every experienced teacher I know has said the same thing. No one listens they just treat us like 20-30 years of experience means nothing. It is beyond insulting and so depressing.
These sorts of overcorrections were catalogued by @LianaLoewus in The Cost of Overteaching Phonics, one of the more viral articles of 2026.

The bit I don’t get is that Jackie O sat opposite Kyle Sandilands for a couple of decades while he said some pretty shocking things and she only protested when it was aimed at her.
Kudos and respect to Paul Keating , the only living PM who refused to accept an AC because he believed that honours should be reserved for those whose work in the community went unrecognised and that being PM was significant public recognition. Definitely not a cosplay PM.
@rockxtqueen Isn’t it great to have two worthy, but different, winners at the end? I can’t remember the last time I felt that both genuinely deserved to win.
Education isn’t broken because of teachers. It’s broken because we ask teachers to be counselors, social workers, parents, and miracle workers—while still demanding perfect test scores. Fix the system, not the people holding it together.
Schools exist to support families, not replace parents.
That means parents need to actually parent, and the govt & communities need to stop treating schools as the fix for bad parenting.
If you’re an educator who thinks otherwise, you’ve watched too many teacher hero movies.
@JonesHowdareyou We have just finished reading the book to our 2nd graders and the book is brilliant! Please read the book before you show the kids the film - the book is truly wonderful!
Walking the halls all day with an EA is not fully inclusive education. Simply being contained in a school building all day is not “school”.
We say that we support full inclusion, but unless we are willing to fully fund supports for students, it is a sham.
And ALL kids suffer.
