मुंबईच्या प्रगतीला मिळाली नवी गती.

सांताक्रूझ ते चेंबूर जोडरस्त्याचा (एससीएलआर) अंतिम टप्पा वाहतुकीसाठी खुला झाला आहे. पूर्व द्रुतगती महामार्ग आणि पश्चिम द्रुतगती महामार्गादरम्यानची १०.३० किमी लांबीची एकात्मिक एससीएलआर मार्गिका पूर्ण झाली आहे.

एससीएलआर विस्तार टप्पा-२ अंतर्गत उभारण्यात आलेली १.४० किमी लांबीची भारत नगर रोड (विद्यापीठ परिसर) ते वाकोला जंक्शन उन्नत मार्गिका ही या नेटवर्कमधील अंतिम आणि महत्त्वाची जोडणी ठरली आहे. मूळ सांताक्रूझ-चेंबूर जोडरस्ता वाहतुकीसाठी खुला झाल्यापासून टप्प्याटप्प्याने विकसित होत आलेल्या या संपूर्ण नेटवर्कचा हा निर्णायक टप्पा आहे.

टप्पा-१ मधील विस्तार आणि टप्पा-२ पूर्ण झाल्यानंतर एससीएलआर नेटवर्क आता पुढील मार्गावर सुरुवातीपासून शेवटपर्यंत सिग्नलमुक्त पूर्व-पश्चिम कनेक्टिव्हिटी उपलब्ध करून देते. जसे की, पूर्व द्रुतगती महामार्ग → चेंबूर → टिळक नगर → कपाडिया नगर → कुर्ला → कलिना → बीकेसी → मुंबई विद्यापीठ → वाकोला → पश्चिम द्रुतगती महामार्ग.

नव्या उन्नत मार्गिकेमुळे बीकेसी आणि पश्चिम दृतगती महामार्ग दरम्यान अखंड दुतर्फा कनेक्टिव्हिटी निर्माण झाली आहे. बीकेसीकडून येणारी वाहतूक थेट एससीएलआर केबल-स्टेड पुलाशी जोडली जाईल, तर पश्चिम दृतगती महामार्गाकडून येणारी वाहतूक विद्यमान वाकोला उड्डाणपुलावरून नव्या उन्नत मार्गिकेवर प्रवेश करेल.

या पूर्ण झालेल्या नेटवर्कमुळे वाहनचालकांना कलिना, वाकोला आणि कलानगर येथील वाहतूक कोंडी टाळता येणार आहे. यामुळे प्रमुख मार्गांवरील प्रवासाच्या वेळेत सुमारे ३५ मिनिटांपर्यंत बचत होण्याची अपेक्षा आहे.

Today's Sunday morning in Mumbai also has that deceptively calm charm.

Beneath that calm, we are building something large — not with noise, but with steady, almost invisible resolve.

In recent months, a few projects have quietly taken shape that would be considered extraordinary almost anywhere in the world.

The #Thane–#Borivali Twin Tunnel is among the widest and deepest urban road tunnels being built on the planet. It will one day carry thousands of vehicles beneath a densely populated city, more specifically under a National Wildlife Park, relieving surface roads that have been choked for decades.

The #Santacruz–#Chembur Link Road #SCLR , with its complex multi-level, hydra-headed design, is not just another flyover. It is a carefully engineered solution that will save countless hours every single day for people moving between the eastern and western suburbs.

The #Chembur #Metro Station and Line 2B extension will quietly connect the eastern part of the city with the South.

And then there is #Mumbai One — India’s first common mobility app. Conceived, built and made operational in a matter of months. In many other global cities, similar integrated platforms have taken years, sometimes more than a decade. Here, it was delivered with quiet urgency and is already crossing one crore tickets.

These are not small ambitions.

Yet the way they have been pursued has been deliberately understated. No excessive celebration of incomplete work. No constant announcement of what is still on the drawing board. Just consistent execution — financing secured, contracts closed, machines launched, systems made to work.

There is a certain discipline in choosing to let the work speak first.

Large infrastructure is often romanticised in drawings and speeches. The harder, quieter part is making it real: resolving land, aligning agencies, managing cash flows, keeping construction moving through monsoon and city constraints, and ensuring that when something finally opens, it actually serves people.

That is the path of quiet execution.

Immense ambition, carried forward without noise.

The city will feel the difference long before the headlines catch up.

Mumbai Moves Forward!

One final link. One seamless east–west corridor.

With the opening of the 1.40-km Bharat Nagar Road–Vakola Junction Elevated Corridor, the final link of the Santacruz–Chembur Link Road (SCLR) is now operational, completing Mumbai’s 10.30-km signal-free SCLR network between the Eastern Express Highway and the Western Express Highway.

Developed under SCLR Extension Phase II, the elevated corridor brings together a network built progressively by MMRDA, creating seamless east–west connectivity across:

EEH → Chembur → Kurla → Kalina → BKC → Mumbai University → Vakola → WEH

The newly opened corridor enables direct two-way connectivity between BKC and WEH, helping motorists bypass key congestion points at Kalina, Vakola and Kalanagar, with travel time on key journeys expected to reduce by up to 35 minutes.

Prime Minister on Oct 2025, has been a massive hit and has crossed over 1 crore tickets and resulted in 1 crore plus seamless journeys. Happy to have led it's development, operationalization and successful implementation. The app integrates 14 Public Transport Operators including all metro lines, suburban railway and bus services across MMR. Today, 80% of the ticleting in metros is by the paperless electronic mode..
