Its sad for me to see @WoutPoels have one of his biggest moments, winning a stage @LeTour, which is an almost impossible task. I would really appreciate for him or any winner to have more than 2 seconds of TV time, so he can show his son what he had achieved. The GC guys are shown everyday. Please, I ask kindly @Francetele give these guys and their teams more exposure that they deserve...
@Alan_Couzens@jfriel has often said the hard workout should be hard enough to dread and the long easy workout to be something to look forward to. On each and every long low aerobic run I laugh. It is by far the hardest workout of my week and the one I dread the most. The GRIND!
"When I started my return-to-fitness campaign, I thought training my body to handle sports nutrition was going to be a limiter.
I got that wrong.
Re-training my body to use fat for fuel…
…that’s the key adaptation required for me to go long, again." - @feelthebyrn1
👏👏👏
Always be mindful of the nervous system on your recovery days.
Recovery days aren't about passively doing less of the stuff that makes you tired...
Recovery days are about *actively* doing the stuff that makes you less tired!
I feel compelled to say it again..
You don't need to do anything extreme to improve your #FatBurning
You don't need fasted workouts.
You don't need to be in ketosis.
You don't need misery!
Move a lot & avoid excess sugar when you're not training. That's it.
Picking a conservative training plan that you *know* you can physically hit is a double edged sword:
You know that if you stop, it will be the mind quitting on you, not the body.
I think that's why, subconsciously, many pick plans that they know, deep down, aren't sustainable.
Absolutely yes, there’s something about pregnancy/birth & motherhood that when supported well, an athlete can come back stronger and faster! I am grateful to be experiencing this, and we are just getting started!
Observation o' the day:
For those of us who grew up swimming in the late 80's/early 90's, undoing all of the threshold work we did is a lifelong project/mission.
90% of endurance athletes are anaerobically overpowered & aerobically underpowered.
The only exceptions:
* Very old
* Very fit
If neither of those, you should think long and hard about if you want to spend any of your valuable weekly energy on sustained 'speedwork'.
@ahsehtho Or if you really believed in your country and thought it could be made better then maybe you should stay and fight for change. Sort of like the founding fathers.
