Coach Schnall is a great coach and leader. Unfortunately, He has to live with the regret of getting tossed. On the other hand, the umpire has no recourse. The umpire doesn’t get interviewed. The umpires were wrong in this situation. We don’t know the whole situation, but I’ve been there before. Like being told in a state championship plate meeting I have to stay in the dugout all game unless coaching a base, nothing warranted it, just a rule they wanted to enforce. Getting screamed at and warned by the 1st base umpire for trying to talk to my own son in the on deck circle. Many more things happened in that 3 game series. But I know the feeling and it sucks when you get a bad crew on the biggest stage.
Angel. Campos. You play all season, ups and downs, emotions all over the place, great plays and head-scratching plays, good breaks and bad breaks — and some dude in blue tries to steal the show in the first inning of a World Series elimination game? Nauseating.
There are very few combinations of words in the English language that warrant ejecting a coach from an elimination game in the Men's College World Series finals. And yet Coastal Carolina's Kevin Schnall -- and first-base coach Matt Schilling -- just got run in the first inning.
Angel Campos, the umpire who just tossed Schnall, has a lengthy history of controversial ejections as an umpire.
He used to be an MLB umpire. He is not anymore.
He was involved in the Cam Cannarella ejection in 2023. This is nothing new.
Today, he’s working Game 2 of the CWS.
The Kevin Schnall ejection is not a good look for the sport. Toss a head coach in the first inning of an elimination game in the championship series without a warning? Bold move. Absolutely insane.
Same umpire that threw out Cannarella in the NCAA tourney last year. He was fired from MLB for being rabbit-eared and quick-triggered. And the NCAA puts him on their national championship game. An embarrassment to the sport.
Man, I'm just so excited that we all tuned in to see Angel Campos put on a show!
That's what we all were wanting in a potential College World Series national championship clincher.
The NCAA’s got a real problem.
Ejecting Kevin Schnall & the first base coach from the game in the bottom of the 1st and then the umpire flops over.
Really???
And now first-base coach Matt Schilling has been ejected ... and it looked like he also got an additional suspension for arguing too long. This is a tough scene. Umpires completely making this thing all about themselves in the first inning. Gross.
