#WorldRadioDay fondly remember making crafted BBC radio documentaries, telling incredible stories & painting pictures w/descriptive words, ambient sound+music. Still very proud of this journey off the #Essex coast broadcast @BBCEssex@BBCRadio4 in 2002. https://t.co/UKNZ4I1ZRq
An episode of the landmark #BBC#radio documentary series ‘THE CENTURY SPEAKS’ about social history 1900-1999. I was the producer for BBC Essex. https://t.co/czUO3lCd9q
Collecting oral history touched me particularly as my work on remarkable CENTURY SPEAKS @BBCArchive radio documentary series detailing life in 20th Century stays with me 27 yrs later. Podcast available here: https://t.co/XpJ7dQi1Ev @BL_OralHistory@OralHistorySoc@socialhistsoc
It’s rare for a cinematic experience to be so deeply affecting. A most beautiful, gentle & especially tender film. Intricate use of music &other sound, together with stillness and thoughtful space (without rushing to the next scene/plot development) was excellently accomplished.
