@AlessandraVolp1 @Opera_North Thank you so much, Alessandra, for your wonderful performance! I can't imagine how difficult it must be to sing so well and to act so well at the same time! The Radames Judgement scene was heart-breaking! All the best in all your creative endeavours!

Saw Verdi's Aida @Opera_North last night. The acting was inspired, particularly by the choir and Alessandra Volpe as Amneris. The voices - beautiful, soaring: Lorna James' as High Priestess and again, the choir's. Velvet voice of Amneris - enveloping! Orchestra -powerful. #ONAida

WWII brought tragedy to EVERY Soviet family. Millions of youn men and women died fighting and millions of civilians, including children, were killed by the Nazis. Despite that, The Red Army pushed back and drove the Nazis out of the USSR and liberated half of Europe.

This bronze statuette of a running girl was probably made in Sparta around 520 BC.

Unusually for ancient Greece, women in Sparta were expected to take part in athletics. They couldn’t compete in the Olympic Games, but had a festival of their own at Olympia – the Heraia. #IWD2019

I am NOT propagating national superiority, but IMHO this is the best "Cinderella" of all. With such outstanding actors as Yanina Zheimo, Erast Garin, Faina Ranevskaya and Vasily Merkuriev, it could not have been any other way. #SovietFilmWednesday https://t.co/zyUbf9OUkt

"The Striped Voyage" is a happy romcom/sitcom starring Evgeny Leonov and an actual tiger female tamer Margarita Nazarova. A timid catering specialist has to pretend to be a tiger tamer on a ship in the sea. Genuine summer watching! #SovietFilmWednesday https://t.co/NaP9N0RT5w
