i’m not gonna pretend i’m leaving twitter forever because sometimes i hate myself enough to come back here to scroll or look at artists
but let’s not pretend the culture and quality here hasn’t become 1000x worse since elon bought it, ESPECIALLY after the US election
Lud’s right. at my old job, this was how i finally got through to my boss that NFTs weren’t a good venture for our company
you can be 100% morally correct, but moral arguments aren’t heard in business convos. you have to meet them on their terms and speak their language.
That’s a fine POV but if it DID make business sense- the hope would be that every creator operates by the same moral standard which is never going to happen
And I think it’s a bit egotistical if I stand there telling them where their morals should align
When ultimately this achieves the same outcome in an unarguable fashion

So awesome to have the opportunity to work on something so cool💖
This is genuinely one of the greatest pieces of fan art to exist. It's honestly so good I can't even fully articulate how much I love it. For the longest time I thought it was an official piece, even
I love Pokemon, as a world. I love seeing mundane every day life, not everything has to be an epic adventure. I think this short by HMCH Anime Studio has been the best portrayal of the Pokemon world ever made and I’d give anything to see more of the world like this 😭
Melee is dead again? I've been offline for a bit so I must have missed that update while I was at my 80-entrant local this week.
Two players who live as far away as possible from North America want to focus on their lives at home instead of traveling all the time? Good for them. One of them isn't even stepping back until 2027 btw.
There's not much money in Melee? What's new? Lol, this isn't a Melee-specific issue. Look at the world around you — does it look like the economy is doing well? Everyone you know has money to spare these days? No, so then don't expect esports of all things to be the outlier.
Believe it or not, most people and even most top players do not play Melee because of the financial gain lmao. We are a community; we play Melee because we genuinely love the game and we love our friends who are/were involved in the scene.
I literally do not care about what a bunch of self-important YouTubers, conservative podcasters, and self-proclaimed white supremacists have to say about the health of the game whose events they have been long banned from for being weirdos. For people who despise the Melee scene so much, you would think they wouldn't be watching and talking about it 24/7 — the definition of loser energy.
There are so many events already lined up for 2026. Go to them! A Melee-only regional literally last week had ~300 entrants. Genesis will happen in one month and everyone will calm down.
Do not go to every single event if you have other priorities. Conversely, having other priorities does not mean that you have to miss every single event. I became a top 10 player while being a full-time biology student. When I started working over a year ago, I then became a top 8 player.
I've been playing Melee since before I could form memories, and I'll be one of the last people on earth playing when I can no longer form memories.
If you think there isn't any good Melee content, go make some — it really is not difficult.
If you enjoy playing Melee, then stfu and play Melee.

your friend who knows how to use the startgg API: though perhaps not evenly distributed, we seem to be in a new golden age of Melee weeklies

This past weekend I won Smashkatoon 100, the largest Melee bracket in Saskatchewan history and a celebration of a wonderful community.
I have never wanted to win a tournament so badly in my entire life... now it's over.
Smashkatoon was my last large bracket I was planning on entering. Life moves fast and my passion for the game and community can't seem to keep up. I've met some amazing people in my travels, and have had some fantastic times. I still love the game, but my serious competition days have long felt over, Smashkatoon was my one last ride. Shoutouts to Mono, Schmeez, and Egg$ for coming out. That meant the world to me.
Thank you to everyone for an amazing 10 years of Smash, 12 year old me couldn't imagine making it this deep into the weeds of it. Thank you to my brother Dunc for getting me into it in the first place and being my guardian at events. Thank you to Paul for driving me to events and smashfests. Thank you Matty and Zach for showing me how cool being good at the game is and teaching me so much. Thank you to the RGF boys for sharing my passion for something I loved. Thank you Matt, Shash, and Chandler for getting me to so many events and for helping create an awesome 2024-2025 of Melee. Thank you TXH Esports for helping with so many of my ambitions. So many people to thank I'd be typing all day. Thanks to all of you for liking my combos and finding my playstyle interesting, that's what it's all been about for me.
I know, I know, "Smash retirement, see you in 2 weeks". This community now isn't what I fell in love with, and it's up to me to recognize that and not try to force an unhappy relationship. I've been putting life outside of smash first on my priority list and have never felt better in life. I'm sure I'll putter around here and there and go to locals when I can but my days of serious travel, practice, organization, production and competition are over as things are.
Thank you $1 twitter premium for no character limit I will be cancelling today but you did your job good stuff.
PEACE!
It's kinda funny that SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon was generally underrated except to fans of the OG tokusatsu series.
Seeing Him'el gush out a wall of appreciation and understanding the core of the story validates just how amazing this series was.
