Eagles-Oilers 1991: The House of Pain Game.

The Eagles haven’t beaten the Titans franchise on the road since 1991…when they were the Houston Oilers. But the win ended up being an all timer.

The ‘91 Eagles defense is arguably the best in franchise history, and they were facing the NFL’s #1 passing offense.
With backup QB Jim McMahon unable to get much going, the defense completely took over. Led by @sethjoyner 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries, the Eagles held Houston to just a last-second FG before halftime to go down 3-0.

After McMahon was injured, 3rd string QB Jeff Kemp entered and threw the game’s only TD, a 3rd quarter strike to Keith Jackson.

Then came the House of Pain.

Up by 7 with two minutes left, the Eagles defense stopped Houston twice more, including another forced fumble. On the final play, Joyner broke up the Oilers last second pass to try and seal the game as the Eagles won 13-7.

One of the greatest defensive performances in Eagles history.
