New rule: Mormons can’t complain about the Trinity until they actually read books on it. Not a YouTube video, some real study.
And also, don’t criticize Mormonism if you haven’t bothered to read the best of Mormon scholarship on a given issue. Charity folks.
You being the best player and your team doing well are not the same thing. Wemby is the best player in the league right now, no matter what happens in the Finals.
Mormons often say this, but it has to be figurative because they also believe that all humans are eternal. If you’re eternal you don’t have a father or mother…and you don’t need one.
Is LDS cosmology 100% incestuous?
Mormonism believes that we are all literal sons and daughters of God. If that’s the case, then your mother and father are actually brother and sister living in an incestuous relationship. They just happened to provide you with your immortal body.
Plus your father is your brother, your mother is also your sister, and your kids are your siblings.
@DigitalPastaFan They are your literal parents because without them you’d have no earthly existence. If you’re an eternal spirit, that’s not true of God; you exist of necessity as you’re not created.
I don’t misunderstand your analogy, and nothing I said implies creation out of nothing. When a carpenter makes a table out of wood, that’s not creation out of nothing, he used the wood. The table didn’t exist before he made it. So, in like manner, if you are made of spirit matter (whatever that is), then you didn’t always exist. Even if what you are made from did.
This priest here is obviously speaking Latin, which is the language of the Catholic Church.
I can't speak Latin. So I won't be able to respond to what the priest is saying on my own without looking at my Missal.
But I can follow along and respond in English because I know exactly what he is saying.
This is the beauty the Catholic Church has that no denomination on earth has.
The church is one and true.
@BrandonTheAdams Logic is seeing what follows from what. It’s shows if something is possible or impossible. I understand that life exists, I can’t comprehend how low the probability is that exists, even if I can write it out.
Comprehending and understanding something are not the same thing. I can understand how the universe works; that it exists at all and why is not fully comprehensible. And that’s fine, we are finite beings we won’t have infinite understanding.
0% understand it. It is a mystery.
"The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible, and the Holy Ghost incomprehensible... And yet there are not three incomprehensibles, but one incomprehensible."
@Mormonger Not entirely. The idea that blessings are predicated on obedience would have a lot of resonance with Calvin. You’re against predestination but there is more to Calvinism than that.
